Scaled Set is an Armor Set in Elden Ring. This was worn by Old Knight Istvan. The corroded metal is reinforced with rock-hard scales, making it highly effective against non-physical attacks. Istvan is one of a few wizened Tarnished who survive to this day. Sets of Armor in Elden Ring are composed of four armor pieces which are Helms, Chest Armor, Gauntlets, and Leg Armor.
Where to find Scaled Set in Elden Ring
- Can be found after killing the first of three invasion targets, Old Knight Istvan, in the volcano manor questline.

AnonymousI feel bad for invading you after you helped me in monkey cave. Nice set though.

Anonymousgoes hard w no helmet or navy hood + ronins greaves, serpentbone katana matches the color scheme well

AnonymousSwitch the helm for the Chain Coif and you have Hawkwood the Deserter from DS3

AnonymousThe helm actually looks pretty good with other sets. I like pairing it with scale armor, scaled greaves and scaled gauntlets. Looks cool for a dragon-slayer

AnonymousThis set is so great, and it stand so early in the game - so it make all other set before him - just unviable !!!
Like Wyke set, or V set, or Carian Knight set, Bloody Wolf set...
This set is just better by all stats, while the weight is almost the same... it look like a crime to me, and all peoples just use this set !

One of the best sets if you want high defenses and wanting to be a plain knight at the same time, I like it best with the knight helm.

Anonymous
AnonymousAltered banished knight helmet + black flame monk robe + these graves and gauntlets = infinite drip

AnonymousThis set with the armor altered and the helmet replaced with something like the altered Banished Knight one goes really hard while still being very functional. It's not original in the slightest, but that's because lots of people share similar tastes.

AnonymousSuper unoriginal fashion, but this set with the altered chest mixed with an altered Banished Knight Helm goes really hard, and reaches that all important 68 Poise threshold for tanking the one-handed followup light attacks of small weapons in PvP, like Straight Swords, Curved Swords, Katanas, Axes, Fists, etc.

AnonymousWhen I don't wanna try anymore, I just wanna win, then I equip this set replacing the helmet for something not ugly and probably wield the bloodhound fang/nagakiba/ghiza wheel to destroy the world before me.

AnonymousVery minor detail, but I like this set because sacred seals when not in use don't just hover at your character's waist, but instead look like they are stored in the pouches.

Anonymous
AnonymousVery good armor but the cape looks awful. A shame that we can´t replace capes with better looking ones.

AnonymousI agree with everyone that the helmet is ugly on an otherwise great set, but I feel as though the helmet is a few adjustments from looking really nice. I can’t quite put my finger on what it would be however. If only I was an artist…

Anonymous
AnonymousThe helmet is a crime against fashion souls. I preffer to use no helmet or the commoner's headband (altered). The chest piece has that bags making it another crime, so I preffer to use another piece like Raging Wolfs'.

AnonymousI finished the game for the first time with this set. Love it.

AnonymousI finished the game for the first time with this set. Love it.

Anonymous
AnonymousWaifu character model, no helm, bull goat legs, shamshir or claymore, runarc, near a bonfire, never attack only whiffpunish(thinks it's spacing), almost looses disconnect.
Passive gracegoblin essentials.
AnonymousThis set goes from an 8 to a 10 when you give your tarnished a full beard.

AnonymousMy go to armour when I can't think of any cosplay/themed armour for a weapon I want to use. Good stats and visually fits decently well with almost anything

AnonymousI have a question
Is the armor supposed to have dragon scales?
I find it curious that it only says scales and does not specify what type.
or are they hand made?

Anonymousaltered jerrens helmet goes perfectly with this set. alter the chest piece too to match it more

I'mma be real with y'all, this may be the best armor in term of resistances + poise / weight ratio, but MARIKA'S TITS it looks so ugly. Like, the cape is ass, the torso alone doesn't fit with anything and the little pouches on the belt look so silly. Let's not even talk about the ill pelican's ass used as an helm, no wonder the Volcano Manor wanted to kill the dude that armor is a fashion crime by itself. Sorry ChaseTheBro and other YT pals, i know you like that armor but geez man there are other ways to reach the poise break points

Anonymousi would use this set a ton if it didnt have the stupid duck hat

Anonymousthis is one of the few sets that you genuinely can't find any fault with besides the goofy helmet and tattered cape

AnonymousExcept for the fact that the helmet is missing a visor, I really love how historically accurate this armour is while also incorporating fantastical elements with its dragon scales (200 IQ idea, since dragons are said to be immortal). As it stands, this is my favourite set in the game (helmet included), and the only reason why I don't use it is because the banished set is a bit better in NG+ cycles. This is also one of the very few sets with actually high lightning resistance, something to keep in mind if you're facing a lightning wielder in pvp. Here's hoping that we get more amazing sets like this in the DLC.

Anonymous
AnonymousThese boots are perfect replacement for the Banished Knight armor ugly duck shaped foots, its nearly in the same weight category with similar stats so it stays consistent, alternatively Altered version of the banished knight helmet is very good replacement for this set's helmet since they are the same color

Anonymous
Anonymousthis armor tends to get a pass because it's not the best armor but lets be real, it's tryhard armor for tryhards

AnonymousLooks good with Blaidd's greaves for a more scrappy look. Leather boots instead of full metal armor.

AnonymousThe marionette bird helm (avionette) actually looks amazing with the the chest armor. It hides your ugly face and the corroded metal texture matches perfectly. Also the gauntlets and legs from the Iron set look great with this combo if you don't want to be fully-armored.

AnonymousWhy does the cape add 3 poise lol... Can't get to 81 poise without a helmet and the unaltered chest piece. Mildly annoying.

AnonymousI wish there was a clean version but this armor still looks great as it is.

AnonymousFantastic poise and protection for how light this armor is.

AnonymousCan someone explain to me why people don't like the helm while loving the set?

AnonymousJust stick the raging wolf helm on this thing and call it a day.

AnonymousMy second favorite armour set just after Veterans Set. Used it for such a long time, the Greaves and Gloves match any different armours, and surprisingly the Bull Goat Greaves and Kaiden helm, Banished knight Helm along with tons of other stuff match this set

AnonymousMy current favorite helmet with this set is the unaltered Banished Knight Helm. One of the few sets where you can have both a cape and the scarf from the helm at the same time. Sweet drip and decent poise.

AnonymousVery good armor for the weight. Can easily reach poise breakpoints. The helmet is kinda ugly though. Pair it with either of the Hoslow helms or the Marais mask for a more stylish look.

Scaled Gauntlets and Scaled Greaves look good with basically everything and have amazing Negation and Poise to weight ratios. I personally recommend the Banished Knight Armor alongside any Helmet that has 5 or more Poise alongside a Bull-Goat Talisman, you'll have a minimum of 88 Poise which is enough to not get staggered by a majority of the medium weapons, such as two-handed Heavy Thrusting Sword R1s, one-handed Hammer R1s, Powerstanced Dagger, Whip, Fist, Straight Sword L1s, etc.

AnonymousJust so everyone knows this is actually the best armor set in the game. Here is why:
1) Has very high non-physical resistances
2) Physical resistance is around 30% which is the highest you can get with armor (bullgoat max's out at 34% for slashing-most common damage type)
3) Very lightweight for 'heavyweight' armor
***Only downside is the helmet is butt ugly.
Anonymous
AnonymousThe Great helm and the Altered Banished Knight Helmet are fantastic alternatives to this set's helmet if you're like me and you love the set but dislike the helmet

AnonymousIgnore whatever you may see on TikTok - it is NOT safe to put Alva in the microwave

AnonymousIt looks pretty good with the snow witch hat, for any mage or witch cosplayer that is looking for poise but also fashion.

AnonymousElden ring devs try to make a cool looking helmet challenge (impossible)

AnonymousI’ve been inspired to do a Don Quixote build with this, the lance, a greatshield, and lordsworn straight sword

Anonymous
AnonymousFor those having moral doubts about obtaining this set (like myself initially):
Don't think Volcano manor is by any means worse than Gideon himself (i.e. Albinauric village). The roundtable hold is quite problematic itself as indicated by the interaction with White Mask Varre.
If I remember right, the assasination targets are all fundamentalists abiding by the will of the two fingers and fighting those who don't.
So unless you're going for an ending upholding the rule of the two fingers... hunting for Volcano Manor is actually fine and well in line with Ranni's questline and other possible endings.
Not a lore expert, so feel free to point things out. Just my justification why my good-guy Char can slap other tarnished without any mental scars. xD
AnonymousI wish so much that there was a set that looked like this, but didn't have the scales. The fashion would be off the charts!

AnonymousPoise is now 71 total. 11 head, 33 chest, 7 gauntlets, 20 legs.

AnonymousHoslow's/Lionel's helm looks really good with this, Hoslow's for lighter weapons and Lionel's for heavier weapons

AnonymousI don't wanna register to make edits, but FYI Tarnished is misspelled at the top.

Anonymous"highly effective against non-physical attacks", does anyone know by how much exactly?

AnonymousIf only the helmet could be closed and in the style of the Iron Helmet from Demon's Soul *chef kiss* => https://demonssouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Iron+Helmet

Anonymous
AnonymousThe armor doesnt look bad at all, but the way you get it... Ugh... Why does the player have to be a murdering ******* just to get the drip?

AnonymousDual handbags for all the boiled crab that you'll be carrying and consuming.

AnonymousFor fashion I'd recommend using this set with the Kaiden Helm. Feels like a good match as that helm also has scales in it (the portion covering the back of the neck that is). For hands and leggins use whatever you prefer. I just use this set's hands and legs.

Anonymous
AnonymousI was balancing weight and defense with radahn set + some cape or by removing side weapons, then I got this armor that has a great magical defence, awesome poise, lesser weight, goes good with banished pieces (I use the arms), looks cool af moreover with the twinbird shield on his back. Just love it

AnonymousMuch like the Fallen Knight armor in DS3, after I get this I'm never willing to change the chest piece out even if I have the free weight for something stronger. Just looks too good from behind (that's what he said). Same goes for the wolf/Blaidd helm.

AnonymousCan't really go wrong with this set tbh. Great poise-to-weight ratio, great resistances, and most importantly, it's got drip.

Anonymousvery sick set. looks straight business with a longsword on your hip or bastard sword at your back.

Anonymous
AnonymousBest armor in the game imo. Looks amazing, reasonable weight means all builds can wear it, and has great negation, and particularly high non-physical negation for metal armor, and you can use it with bull-goats talisman to hit necessary poise breakpoints for pvp. I wear this, altered, with either the crimson or cerulean hood for peak drip and excellent stat spread. I also use the boots or gloves with any other armor i'm trying out to balance out weight and negation. I really can't praise it enough.

AnonymousTo me this is the best set in the game, by changing one or two pieces you can make this work with every kind of build there is, peak bling.

AnonymousA perfectly fine set. Good weight, good poise, good looks. Replace helmet with Banished Knight's Altered Helm, and it looks even better, while giving you 56 poise to tank through 2h light weapon (katana, straight sword, etc) hit. It's really great.

Anonymous
AnonymousThe definitive "Overused sweaty set". You know you're up against some basement-dwelling bozo when you see someone using this set and no helmet. My brother in Christ, your character is not "beautiful", you just look like a failed NPC. The real purpose of character creation is to make the most concave abomination known to man

AnonymousMost importantly, gets you over the critical 50+ poise requirement! Makes you much more resistant to stagger than most other armors!

AnonymousIn my opinion the best armour in the game.
Stats to weight average, it wins hands down. Plus it looks amazing.
I just wish FromSoft would allow colour palette changing and more in depth customisation than we get and also not have it affect our defences.

AnonymousVeteran's Helm goes pretty nicely with the rest of this set.

AnonymousYuras or White Reed mask, also white mask fits well.this set reason why I'm using it, it has nice clean silver kook, not so heavy not so light and offers amazing defenses ratios for its weight. Only changing this set once I get Mt vigor to 60, 47 atm.

Anonymous
AnonymousI'd like to not commit murder of an npc I know literally nothing about, but the drip is strong.

AnonymousThis is a good example of one of my favorite types of helmets: the burgonet. This is an open faced version and the banished knight helm is a close faced version. I wish I could get a variant of this without the scales so it would match better with other armor sets.

AnonymousLike some others here my go to is the scaled set with the blue cowl- so awesome

AnonymousThe Blue Cloth Cowl from the Warrior set also matches the colors pretty well

AnonymousDamn i wish that cape had the same cyan color as the armor belt.

AnonymousSurprisingly heavy despite its looks. It's heavier than Crucible, but lighter than Radahn & Tree Sentinel.

AnonymousI use this for my Fashionsouls on my Dragon Communion character. The Drake Knight set (yikes that helmet) is more dragon-y but I use this for the look and the stats. The blue and red hoods look great with it. Sadly they don't cover the shoulder like normal with this set, but still looks great.

AnonymousHands down the best armor for early game, defense, poise, and minimal endurance stat investment to wear this + your weapons.

AnonymousI was doing really imposing fashion bling with Blaidd's armor + Great helm bucket on my head, I mean I did like the looks but had to switch to that set because the stats are oh so good for it's weight.

It almost goes with everything and I mean like 80% of all armor sets while having high poise and defense, only problem is weight but that's to be expected from how much defense it gives
Tldr: peak armor set
