Metal Farms simplify item farming in Subnautica 2. After building them, you don't need to go out and search for materials anymore. Instead, you can place materials inside Metal Farms to generate more of them over time. However, building one isn't easy, so here's everything you need to know about how to build and use Metal Farms in Subnautica 2.

To build a Metal Farm, you need to craft Mangalloy Ingots and get Axum Bacterial Culture in Subnautica 2. Each Metal Farm requires one Axum Bacterial Culture and one Mangalloy Ingot.

To unlock the Metal Farm in Subnautica 2, head to the same spot where you can find Axum Bacterial Culture, and scan the metal farms around the green ponds.

To get the Axum Bacterial Cultures, travel east from the Alien Ruins location to find the green swamps. There, you can collect four to five Axum Bacterial Cultures on each run. However, be careful, as many creatures roam the area, including the Collector Leviathan in Subnautica 2.

You also need to collect resources to craft Mangalloy Ingots. Here's everything you need to put in the Processor to craft one Mangalloy Ingot:

  • One Titanium Ingot
  • One Atacamite
  • One Troilite

After getting all the resources you need to build a Metal Farm, it's important to find a good spot for it. Since it's a Cultivation-type building, you can only place the Metal Farm outside your base. Ideally, it should be close to your base so it can connect to its power system. However, you can still use a Power Transmitter and build the Metal Farm wherever you want.

For the Metal Farm to work properly, you need to place an item inside it. After that, it will slowly generate a node for that item. For example, if you place Titanium inside the Metal Farm, it will grow a Titanium node. You can treat that Titanium node like any other Titanium node you find in the wild and break it with your Sonic Resonator or Feedback Resonator in Subnautica 2.

Each item you place inside a Metal Farm has its own timer and produces a different amount of that item. Here's a breakdown of every item you can place in the Metal Farm, including what it produces and how long it takes.
