Where to Find Lithium in Subnautica 2

In Subnautica 2, Lithium is required to make Plasteel Ingots, a crucial component for crafting the High Capacity Air Tank. Luckily, Lithium is fairly easy to get in the game. It can be found in the volcanic vents biome located 250m SE of the Lifepod, inside certain types of caves.

In Subnautica 2, Lithium can be found in caves in the lava biome found 250m S-SE of the Lifepod. High temperatures make this biome impassable until you have unlocked the Heat Tolerance adaptation, which lets your character survive extreme heat without dying.

The Heat Tolerance adaptation is unlocked after players destroy the Bloom Cankers on the Angel Comb found next to the Blackbox - Wander and interact with the cleansed Gene Donor.

After you’ve acquired Heat Tolerance, you’ll be free to search for Lithium in the lava biome. From the Lifepod, orient your HUD compass to the 120 marker, between S and SE, and swim in a straight line for 250m. When the indicator appears in the middle of the screen to show the temperature rising, you’ll know you’ve arrived in the right spot.

Once you’re here, explore the region and look for caves with glowing green grass and mushrooms with thick cyan stems and brown heads. Lithium nodes appear inside these cave formations in large quantities.

The Lithium nodes that I’ve found have all been large deposits that can only be mined using the Sonic Resonator. It’s possible that there are smaller nodes that you can pick up by hand, but I haven’t found any. So far, at least.

It’s also worth mentioning that the large Lithium deposits only yield 1-2 Lithium ores per node, unlike Titanium, Copper, and other common ores, which give you 5 each.

The Lithium deposits will only show up as trackable resources in the Scanner Station if they fall within a 300m range.

Plasteel Ingots can be obtained by combining Lithium and Titanium in a Processor. You'll unlock the recipe for the Plasteel Ingot instantly after obtaining your first Lithium ore.
