Subnautica 2 Beginner's Guide

Subnautica 2 - Beginner's Guide

From the moment you start a new playthrough, you are quickly thrown into disaster. You can barely breathe the air and are likely to poison yourself if you try to sate your hunger. Here's the most important first steps to take to ensure you survive.

Angel Comb

The Angel Comb are rare creatures that can be used to directly alter your DNA, which greatly increase your odds of survival and allow you to explore new areas. After you complete the intro sequence and emerge from the Life Pod, you'll want to head straight to the next Angel Comb. The upgrade it provides will allow you to digest food without poisoning yourself.

From the Lifepod, head directly northeast until you reach the Angel Comb. Then interact with it to get the upgrade, catch some fish, and head back to the Lifepod to feast.

Biomods

The next thing you'll want to do is make your way to the Welcome Center, which is found southwest of the Lifepod, and interact with the Biolab. This will allow you to apply Biomods that can greatly improve how you move around. To start off, we highly recommend you choose Dash for your active Biomod, and Sea Skimmer for your passive. Both will help you move around much more quickly and make the most of your limited oxygen.

Scanner Tool

After getting all the necessary upgrades, you'll want to focus on building a Scanner right away. This will allow you to scan blueprint fragments scattered around the map that will eventually let you craft more tools, gear, and resources.

To craft the Scanner, you'll need two titanium, two quartz, and a basic battery. The ore can be found just about everywhere, but to get the battery you'll either need to find one in a supply crate or craft one yourself. The closest battery is in a cave by the wreckage northwest of the Lifepod. Or if you prefer to craft your own, you can do so with two copper and one Acid Raion Pouch.
