Gold is a crucial resource in Subnautica 2 that is needed to craft multiple useful items in the game, including Thermal Plants, Advanced Wiring Kits, and Strong Acid.
Gold mainly spawns in the lava biome located 250m southeast of the Lifepod, an area that you cannot enter without the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.
Where to Find Silver in Subnautica 2
Silver only spawns in a very specific biome in a fixed part of the world in Subnautica 2. Here’s where to find it.

In Subnautica 2, gold can be found in the lava biome with the volcanic vents located 250 E-SE of the Lifepod. Venturing into this region is impossible without the Heat Tolerance adaptation, which can be acquired by cleansing the Bloom infestation from the Angel Comb near the Blackbox - Wander signal.
Once you’ve unlocked the ability to withstand high temperatures, you’ll be able to swim into the lava biome without issue. Starting from the Lifepod, face S-SE, centering the compass on the 120 marker. Swim in a straight line for 250m, and keep an eye on the center of the screen. Once you see the indicator showing that the temperature is rising, you’ll know you’re in the right place.
The volcanic biome is located right next to the Chap Blackbox. If NoA has marked that signal for you already, you can simply follow it to find this biome easily.
When you enter the high heat area, keep heading SE for another 100m, keeping a lookout for large blackened coral formations like the ones shown in the screenshot above. These are Radiator Corals, and gold deposits spawn frequently on them and in the surrounding areas.
Look for golden perforated spheres - these are the gold deposits. The larger gold deposits can be mined using the Sonic Resonator, while the smaller ones can be broken or picked up by hand.
Any time you see volcanic vents or black coral, gold is likely to spawn nearby.
How to Track Gold Location in Subnautica 2
The Scanner Station is an unlockable base module that lets players track and pinpoint any resource within 300m of itself, including gold. While gold is relatively easy to find once you know where to look, that is not the case for every resource.
Placing the Scanner Station in any base in Subnautica 2 should be among the first priorities, right after the power and storage problems have been handled.
