Easily Distracted Flaw Comprehensive Guide
How to Unlock Easily Distracted Flaw in Outer Worlds 2
Easily Distracted is unlocked by allocating five skill points to five different skills. Keep in mind that having five skills alone will not proc the Easily Distracted Flaw. You'll have to allocate 1 skill point to five skills for it to proc. This would mean that, despite having 2 levels already from your starting specialized skills, you'll still need to allocate a skill point for them.
How Easily Distracted Works in Outer Worlds 2
The Easily Distracted Flaw forces you to turn your current build into a jack-of-all-trades, while granting you +1 Skill Point every level. Instead of specializing in one or two particular skills and leaving the rest behind, players must first equalize and balance all the levels of their chosen Skills before they can add a new one to their build or raise the level of an already chosen skill. This allows players to quickly increase the level of their skills and acquire their desired perks faster, as well as get through those pesky skill-check requirements.
Supposedly, you've picked up Easily Distracted at level 4 with this skillset, and with Lockpick as the highest skill at 4. Then you ran across a skill-check interaction that requires your Speech to be level 4. You'll first have to level up Sneak, Hack, and Engineering before you can raise Speech to skill level 4, which can be done once you're at level 6.
NOTE: Easily Distracted is not retroactive. You won't be able to acquire the missed skill points once you've accepted the Flaw.
| Skill | Level 4 | Level 5 | Level 6 |
| Speech | 3 | 3 | 4 (+1) |
| Lockpick | 4 | 4 | 4 |
| Engineering | 2 | 3 (+1) | 3 |
| Hack | 2 | 3 (+1) | 4 (+1) |
| Sneak | 1 | 2 (+1) | 3 (+1) |
When to Take Easily Distracted Flaw in Outer Worlds 2
While it is ultimately your decision whether to accept the Flaw, there are some caveats to consider:
During your run, if you've already allocated your skill points across multiple skills, accepting Easily Distracted can become a nuisance in the upcoming acts or planets. If you already have 6 or maybe 7 skills before accepting Easily Distracted, you'll have to balance them first before you can raise your highest skill. This can be a hindrance since, in the upcoming acts, there'll be a few skill-check requirements you won't be able to meet. (Not unless you skip them until you've reached the required level and come back to it)
If you opt to take Easily Distracted on your run, we recommend picking it up as early as possible since the Flaw is not retroactive. The earliest you can unlock the Flaw is at level 4. Unlocking it at this level gives you the most benefit and enables you to maximize its +1 skill point effect. Once unlocked, you can choose the Skills you prefer and enjoy the extra skill point every level up.
Building with Easily Distracted Flaw in Outer Worlds 2
If you opt to maximize Easily Distracted, we recommend you take the Flaw as early as level 4. This allows you to maximize the earned skill points from its effect. Combine this with the Trait Dumb and Brilliant to get the most out of it. Dumb locks 5 out of the 12 available skills, wherein you can never add skill points to them. This might seem counterintuitive, but it's actually the opposite. Since you're maximizing the skill points earned, you'll only be raising five skills. This counteracts the negative Trait, Dumb, and allows you to choose an additional positive Trait. The Brilliant Trait is a positive trait that allows you to choose an additional Skill to specialize in, which means you'll be starting the game with three specialized Skills already at 2 points. It's important to note that you won't be able to max out a Skill to level 20 by choosing this route, but you will, however, be able to get those five skills to level 17-18 once you reach the level cap (30). Acquiring Skill levels 17-18 will be enough to get you through most of the skill-check interactions.
You'll have to allocate your skill points into five different skills when you reach level 4. The table below shows the supposed Skill Point Allocation when reaching level 4 to unlock the Easily Distracted Flaw.
| Skill | Level 1 Skill Points Allocation |
Level 2 Skill Points Allocation |
Level 3 Skill Points Allocation |
Level 4 Skill Points Allocation |
| Speech (Specialized) | 2 | 2 | 3 (+1) | 3 |
| Lockpick (Specialized) | 2 | 2 | 3 (+1) | 3 |
| Engineering (Specialized) | 2 | 2 | 2 | 3 (+1) |
| Hack | 0 | 1 (+1) | 1 | 2 (+1) |
| Sneak | 0 | 1 (+1) | 1 | 1 |
NOTE: If you wish to maximize a Skill to 20 to complete a skill-check requirement or gain its Perks while still utilizing the Easily Distracted Flaw, you can opt to rush your preferred Skill to level 20 first before unlocking Easily Distracted. By level 18, you can already max out a Skill level to 20.
