Withered Shoals is a Location in Mortal Shell 2. This is the zone you reach after crossing the Gate of Mammon, and it doesn't have any sub-locations. It contains three Beacons, and it also works as home for the Hexapod, one of the bosses of Mortal Shell 2.
Withered Shoals Location Information in Mortal Shell 2
- The Withered Shoals is the location behind the Gate of Mammon, the west gate in Mammon, or the southwest gate if you look at it from the Marrow Keep.
- There are three beacons in this area: Hexapod's Burrow Beacon, Nameless Pass Beacon and Ossinite Falls Beacon.
- After defeating the Hexapod, finding the Beacon that appears in this area can become difficult because of the mist. To find it, follow these steps:
Exit the game, which will make you appear at the Beacon above the battle arena. From there, drop back to the arena, and without moving the Harbinger, turn the camera to the back and start walking. You should find a giant skeleton here (which contains a Dorsalite), then head left to find another giant skeleton. Position yourself exactly in this place of the skeleton:

Put your back on that white bone and start walking to the front. You’ll see the Beacon.

Withered Shoals Walkthrough in Mortal Shell 2
Upon entering the Gate, you’ll have to cross a short hallway where you’ll encounter a few Tiger Leeches, a new type of enemy very similar to the Pale Leech. On the other side of the hallway, you’ll find a Burnt Effigy on a wall and, close to it, a Common Moonshine. You’ll finally enter this new area, the Withered Shoals.
Now, go downstairs, then go through the second staircase nearby. It’ll take you to the zone below the wooden platform. If you go around the staircase, you’ll find a Coin of Mammon up for grabs.

You can now progress through the regular path. It’ll lead to an open room, full of many enemies such as Bone Snails, Grisha Hunters, and more Tiger Leeches. To the left of this room, you can find a Dorsalite:

To the right of this room, you’ll find a Bone Gate that will send you flying towards an optional mini-boss, the Strange Grisha. This is a battle very similar as a battle against a regular Grisha. The only difference is that this Grisha inflicts Stasis with its attacks. For more infomation, visit the Strange Grisha page. It’ll drop the Strange Remnant Tarstone and a Grisha Remnant PP Item. You can also grab a Dorsalite in this battle arena; don’t leave it behind.

Back on the regular path, once you go up the rocky hill, you’ll reach a new area. If you immediately turn right, you’ll see a few Cefatropods and a Dorsalite waiting to be grabbed. Don’t try to enter the water as you’ll immediately die.

Continue forward or through the path to the left, and you’ll eventually reach the first Beacon of the place, the Ossinite Falls Beacon. This beacon has a Dungeon inside, the Broodshell Nest dungeon.

Once outside the Beacon and before continuing through the regular path, go through the waterfall to find a Sheep for a Sheephead Totem and a Chest for the Torpor Stone Tarstone.

Back outside, use the long rocky ramp to go up. The regular path is to the right, and to the left, you can find a short hallway leading to three hidden Ventrium.

Advance through the regular path, and after facing two Tiger Leeches, you’ll eventually find a bifurcation like this:

The regular path is on the right, but you can pick up a few gatherables and then get back on track by heading left. After squeezing through, you’ll find a white branch holding a Laterite and a very long ramp going up. At the top of this rocky ramp, you can find a Canyon Crawler protecting two Dorsalites.
Now, go back to the ramp and stop right at this point:

Drop there to find a Ventrium and the shortcut to reach the next area: another open cave full of Cefatropods and Tiger Leeches. The path from here onwards is pretty straightforward.
You can find a Dorsalite hidden if you head to the left at this bifurcation:

And after that, continue along the regular path and take the left at yet another bifurcation to reach another Dorsalite. Continue through the right, and after a few more Bone Snails, you’ll find the second Beacon of the area, the Nameless Pass Beacon. Inside, you can find the Odious Crevice Dungeon.
Next to the Beacon, you’ll find Proxima in its Summon shape. She’ll be useful for the following bossfight mostly as a distraction. From here, the path is a straight line all the way to a long, rocky formation where you’ll find Ruk, who’ll give you a brief introduction to what you are about to find.

To find the boss, you must jump to the void, but first, jump to the zone below Ruk and head all the way back in the bone tunnel to find the Depleted Gland. Jump to the void. You’ll see a short cutscene introducing you to your next challenge: the Hexapod.
