Peyote Gasser
The Vapid Peyote Gasser is a modified muscle car featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the continuation of The Diamond Casino & Resort update, released on November 28, 2019, during the Peyote Gasser Week event.
Influence
[edit | edit source]The Peyote Gasser takes heavy influence from the "Bird of Prey", a "gasser" variant of the 1955 Ford Thunderbird on which the standard Peyote is based.
Liveries
[edit | edit source]- The "Old School Gasser" livery is based on Joe Walden's modified 1955 Ford Thunderbird hot rod.
- The "Flywheels Garage" livery is based on the livery worn by the "Bird of Prey" Ford Thunderbird on which the Peyote Gasser is based.
Design
[edit | edit source]The vehicle is the drag car variant of the Peyote, and thus shares most of the bodywork and features from its standard version. Notable changes on the vehicle are the removal of the front bumper and part of the lower side, giving room for the front-mounted oil tank. The front suspension setup was completely rearranged, being a steel axle beam supported by a pair of springs, in a higher height. The grille itself is highly detailed and exposes part of the engine bay and a protective cage around it. The rear wheel arches were cut in order to fit the large drag tires.
Other minor features were changed as well: the original "V10 Supercharged" badge on the sides were removed, and the original black trimming is absent on this model. While the interior remains identical to that of the standard model, it receives a race-type steering wheel. The vehicle may spawn with a stock carbon roof, a painted (primary or secondary) hard top, or no roof, as well as with or without the hood, although all these options can be changed in any vehicle mod shop.
The primary color of the car is applied to the body and engine cam covers, while the secondary color is applied to the frames around the engine and the inner sections of the front fenders (easily seen with the hood open or removed). Although not accessible, a trim color is available for the custom seats installed with the "Roll Cage" modifications, which is set to black on purchased examples. It uses a set of plain rims with five triangle-shaped details around the center and chrome outer lips, fitted with high-profile tires, with the rear ones being significantly larger and wider. On the front wheels, the outermost section of the rims adjacent to the outer lips are painted with the wheel color, although only naturally-generated examples may have a black color.
Certain liveries will remove the rear-side Peyote badging when applied.
Performance
[edit | edit source]The Peyote Gasser has decent speed, excellent acceleration and fair braking, making it great for speeding in a straight line; however, the vehicle suffers from understeer at higher speeds, making turning quite difficult, thus good brake and speed control is a necessity to be able to turn correctly. Because of the higher ground clearance, the Peyote Gasser can travel through uneven terrain and small obstacles easier than its standard counterpart.
The Peyote Gasser has one (the eleventh) Advanced Flag enabled.[1] The purpose of this flag is unknown, but it appears to have little impact on performance.
The Peyote Gasser is powered by a single-cam V8 engine fitted with a rounded top-mounted air filter and fully-animated timing belt and pulleys, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox in a front-engine, rear-wheel drive-layout. The engine sound is the same as the Tornado Rat Rod, which derives from the Trophy Truck, and the engine start-up is the same as the Fränken Stange. Some hood options also allows for a supercharger with either single/dual air filters, ram pipes or bug catchers.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- "Peyote" is the real-life common name of a North American breed of cactus, famous for its powerful psychoactive properties. A badge emblazoned with an image of the peyote cactus is placed on side of the hardtop variant's rear pillars.
- The Flywheels Garage livery is based on the livery of the Bird of Prey.
- With the correct modifications and color, the Peyote Gasser can resemble its real counterpart.
- The default radio station for the Peyote Gasser is Channel X.
- This vehicle’s stock rims can be found under the Street wheel ‘Retro Steelie’, albeit the tread pattern is the same as in the front wheels.
Oversights
[edit | edit source]- When the "Open Grille" option is applied to the vehicle, the stock grille will be restored after the hood falls off.
- With a lowered-enough suspension upgrade, the rear-wheels will clip through the fenders while driving.
- When purchased, the vehicle will come with both the stock and the primary roof options. This can be fixed by purchasing a different roof option.
