Baller
The second generation Gallivanter Baller is a five-door SUV appearing in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, and due to appear in Grand Theft Auto VI.
Description
[edit | edit source]The second generation Baller sits between the first generation Baller and the Baller ST-D in a growing model lineup of sporty British SUVs. Subsequent trim levels for the second generation, including the Baller LE and Baller ST, have been added in various GTA Online updates. These variants share the same initial chassis design, but feature different levels of cosmetic details and performance.
Grand Theft Auto VI
[edit | edit source]The vehicle makes three notable appearances in the game's first trailer:
- A blue one is seen in the opening shot, driving on a highway near the Leonida Penitentiary in Vice-Dale County (0:03).
- Driving southbound on Interstate 97 ahead of a Towtruck (0:51).
- A white one is seen parked up in a parking lot in the Rialto Islands between Vice City and Vice Beach (0:31).
The vehicle later appears in the second trailer, where it is depicted as destroyed and on fire in the parking lot of the Starlet Motel (1:54), whilst also appearing throughout multiple official screenshots.
The second generation Baller also appeared in multiple of the game's leaks:
- In a single clip of the September 2022 leaks, a steel blue one seen driving past Lucia across from the Cipher Mall in Rockridge, Vice City.[1]
- In the "Junkies Video" of the August 2026 leaks, the second generation Baller appears through the video, either in traffic or parked around Southside, Vice City; an example of which is several parked in a row at a Gallivanter dealership alongside Baller ST-Ds, with a red one displayed on a ramp in front of the dealership's main lobby.[2]
- In the first part of the "Hypercar" video of the August 2026 leaks, the second generation Baller appears through the video, either in traffic or parked in various areas.[3]
In both official and leaked appearances, the second generation Baller appears to have undergone several design changes.
Influence
[edit | edit source]The second generation Baller is primarily based on the second-generation Land Rover Range Rover Sport (L494), with major parts of the car derived from other Range Rover models, such as the front bumper, headlights, and the entire rear fascia from the first-generation Range Rover Evoque (L538), and side accents from the fourth-generation Range Rover (L405).
Grand Theft Auto VI
[edit | edit source]In GTA VI, as shown in detail in the first part of the "Hypercar" video of the August 2026 leaks, the headlights and grille are now inspired by the 2018–2021 Range Rover (L405) The taillight clusters are now allude to those of the second-generation Range Rover Evoque (L551).
Etymology
[edit | edit source]The name Baller is a slang term for a person who finds success and wealth, starting from the bottom with nothing and making it to the top.
Design
[edit | edit source]Grand Theft Auto V and Online
[edit | edit source]The front face of the Baller features a lot of polymer, similar to the car's real life inspiration. The base of the front bumper features a polymer layer spanning the entire width. Two thirds of the front face width and a third of its height is occupied by a trapezium formation, with the outer part being black and the inset trapezium being chrome. Outside the central areas and at about half the SUV's height there are large ducts that have edges contoured to the lower trapezium, main grille and headlights. These ducts have horizontal LED strips that run from the inner vertex of the ducts. The main grille is located almost at the top of the front face, being a chrome-edged trapezium which is less wide than the lower trapezium. The main grille features two horizontal chrome strips either side of mid-height. The headlamp units are linked to the grille, with the top edge coinciding with the top of the grille and bottom edge with the upper horizontal strip. The headlamp units feature two circular lamps and then an amber turn indicator lamp on the outside. The bonnet/hood features an elevated area whose edges are in line with the top corners of the grille.
The sides of the car feature wheel arches in the form of large bulges. The main body features an impressed area bounded by two chrome lines parallel to the car's belt line. Connecting the two lines at the front quarter is a vertical air duct. As with the older model, the car features black, polymer-covered A, B, C and D pillars. The wing mirrors are dominantly body-coloured but feature a black polymer accent. The roof is lightly curved.
The rear features small, wide lamp units that mostly consist of small LEDs, connected by a single chrome line similar to the ones on the sides, just over a square-shaped formation that holds the license plate. The rear bumper is mostly dominated by a polymer portion encompassing the exhaust tubes, while two red strips are seen on the edges.
Again, the Baller is only painted in a primary colour for the body and the interior stitching. It has split six-spoke rims also seen on the Surano, wrapped in low-profile tyres.
The Baller appears to be equipped with a power tailgate, as seen in the cutscene where Dr. Dre and his entourage are leaving the hangar at LSIA prior to the player and English Dave departing for Cayo Perico.
Grand Theft Auto VI
[edit | edit source]The second generation Baller in Grand Theft Auto VI shows a number of slight design alterations compared to its version in Grand Theft Auto V and Online. In the leaked September 2022 footage, the vehicle features redesigned stock rims and front turn signal lenses, with the door handles now aligned with the side chrome trim, as well as an added rear tow ball. In the first trailer, this design is seemingly retained, with the addition of a moonroof extending from the front to the rear seats, similar to the one featured on the Baller ST-D. In an official screenshot labeled under Vice City, the vehicle can also be seen with further updates such as redesigned headlights and a two-tone paint job.
Performance
[edit | edit source]The second generation Baller accelerates at an average rate for an SUV, and is capable of reaching good top speed. The main weakness of the SUV's performance lies in its handling; the SUV's mass combined with its lack of traction can often lead to heavy understeer. When taken off-road however, the SUV's handling is better and cornering grip can allow for precise high speed driving off-road. The handling of the SUV can be quickly summarized as a level below the Huntley Sport in almost every way imaginable.
Though the engine model does not feature any manifolds, the engine cover displays what appears to be a single-overhead camshaft V8, fitted in a front engine, all wheel drive (60% front, 40% rear) layout, longitudinally.

- Fairly common around The Families/Ballas territory.
Grand Theft Auto Online
[edit | edit source]- Can be found driving around Paleto Bay and Vinewood.
- Can be found in the parking lot of The Diamond Casino & Resort.

Prominent Appearances in Gameplay
[edit | edit source]Grand Theft Auto V
[edit | edit source]- In Father/Son, a unique metallic Ultra Blue Baller can be encountered merging into the southbound La Puerta Freeway at the Rockford Hills intersection during the pursuit. This Baller only spawns if the player fails their first attempt of the mission and restarts from the last checkpoint. To obtain this Baller, simply hijack it and abandon the mission.
- This particular Baller can spawn with any pearlescent colors from its traffic-default color sets. This means it has a 2/15 chance to spawn with a pearlescent hue that is not available at mod shops: Matte Gray or Worn Green, creating a unique color combination. If the Baller spawns with an obtainable pearlescent hue, the process of forcing it to spawn with a different pearlescent color on the next attempt can be very convoluted:
- The player needs to start the mission with a random vehicle; arriving with a personal vehicle or on foot may cause the pearlescent hue not to randomise upon retry.
- If the Baller spawned with an undesirable pearlescent color, the player needs to drive the Baller back towards Michael's mansion, but then abandon the SUV some distance away from the safehouse (around a few hundred meters will be sufficient) and then reattempt the mission. This way, the Baller from the previous attempt will not despawn, forcing the game to spawn a new Baller with a different pearlescent color.

Grand Theft Auto Online
[edit | edit source]- Flood in the LS River – used by the Vagos.
- Series A - Weed – used by Ballas
- Series A Funding – used by Ballas
- The Baller can appear in Undisclosed Cargo as the vehicle that needs to be disposed of.

[edit | edit source]Grand Theft Auto Online
[edit | edit source]- The Baller sells for $9,000 at Los Santos Customs.
Rockstar Games Website
[edit | edit source]Oversights
[edit | edit source]- In earlier versions of Southern San Andreas Super Autos, the second generation Baller's listing incorrectly used a picture of the first generation model. This was subsequently fixed when said website was revamped.
- The Rockstar Games Website lists the second generation Baller as non-purchasable and the first generation Baller as purchasable, despite it being vice-versa in-game.
