Meiko Biography in Fellowship

Meiko was sent to vanquish an unspeakable evil to make her people safe. She was strong, she was ready, but it all went wrong. She battled for what seemed like an eternity, but before she delivered the final blow the evil vanished in a blaze of smoke, it was an illusion, a trick!

As the wind blew awy the disguise, the smell of ash and a distant fire reached Meiko and her heart sank. While she was fighting the illusion, the evil had laid waste to her city and its people.

The evil had destroyed her home and her purpose, now only she remains. Meiko cannot undo what has happened to her people, but she can avenge them. That will be her purpose now.

Meiko BiS Weapons

Meiko has a couple of good Weapon options at her disposal for both dealing more damage and absorbing more punishment. Fists of Fate is a great offensive option thanks to its ability to deal cleave damage, which comes with a relatively short cooldown of 60 seconds. Upon use, Fated Strike also buffs your Expertise by 20% and grants you significant Cooldown Recovery for 6 seconds, allowing you to use your core Skills more often. In addition, the Weapon Ability can also be used at range to charge at your primary target in order to initiate fights more easily.

Sahril’s Grasp is another very solid option, especially if you prefer jack-of-all-trades Weapons that boost both your offensive and defensive capabilities at the same time. While active, Sahril’s Aegis, soaks up a ton of damage before eventually exploding and sending all the damage right back to your attackers. The downsides of Sahril’s Grasp are the longer cooldown of 90 seconds and the lack of additional perks like the ones granted by Fists of Fate.

We recommend going with Sahril's Grasp if you're looking for a press and forget type of weapon. Otherwise, Fists of Fate has more to offer, although you will need to be proactive to get the most out of it.

Best Weapon Traits

The best Weapon Traits for Meiko will depend on whether you're looking for more damage or more defensive capabilities. Having said that, some of the available Traits are so good that you'll often want to stick with them regardless of your playstyle. Below, we've split the Weapon Traits into three categories based on how much value they offer to Meiko players.

Must-have Traits

  • Visions of Grandeur - All-around fantastic choice that enables you to use Twin Souls: Army of One more often
  • Inspired Allegiance - Enables you to use your Weapon Ability more often while also providing a Haste buff for you and your allies
  • Brave Machinations - Solid Critical Strike chance and Cooldown reduction buffs for your Weapon Ability
  • First Man Standing - Makes you significantly tankier in the opening stages of a fight and whenever ads show up in battle
  • Iron Spikes - Boosts your armor and enables you to deal up to 55% more damage to your attackers while the buff is active

Decent Traits

Not Recommended (Unless You Have no Choice) Traits

Gem Priority

Gems in Fellowship offer various bonuses depending on their type. While it may be tempting to socket as many Gem types as possible into your Equipment in exchange for a wide variety of bonuses, it's generally a lot more efficient to specialize and focus on just a few types.

Meiko benefits the most from Gems that increase her critical strike (Amethyst) and spirit (Sapphire). If you're gearing up for particular difficult challenges, Strength and Stamina (Ruby) are definitely worth considering as well, especially if your healer has a difficult time keeping up alive. Otherwise, Meiko's Gem priority should largely be as follows:

Sapphire -> Amethyst -> Emerald -> Ruby -> Diamond -> Topaz

Meiko Builds

This build is focused on reducing the micro-managing of Meiko's defensive Palm Technique buffs. This makes Meiko's complicated skill rotation smoother and less overwhelming without sacrificing damage or survivability.

This build is focused on increasing Meiko's single-target and Earth damage while reducing the complicated nature of her rotation.

This build is meant for experienced players that want to push Meiko's Earth abilities to the extreme, to the point of mostly roleplaying an earth bender.

Meiko Stat Priority

Meiko's Stat priority is as follows:

  1. Agility
  2. Spirit
  3. Expertise = Crit
  4. Haste

Main stat is king in Fellowship, so you will want to focus on item level which in turn gives main stat on all pieces of gear minus neck and ring slots. Meiko is one of the few characters in Fellowship that does not focus on Haste as their main secondary stat. Instead she will focus on Spirit to considerably bolster her defenses.

Meiko Quick Guide in Fellowship

Overview

Meiko is a Melee Tank that uses Ability Combo Mechanics. She excels in the front lines taking hits instead of her allies. She uses Ability Combos to perform powerful Finishing Moves. Big cooldowns and self-buffs give her survivability and self-healing.

Meiko's primary power stat is Agility. All damage she deals is affected by this stat.

Role Mechanics

Tanks are primarily responsible for managing the following mechanics:

  • Threat
  • Heroes generate Threat on enemies by doing damage to them or healing allies.
  • The first hero seen by an enemy generates an initial burst of Threat.
  • Tanks generate 350% more threat compared to Damage Dealers and Healers.
  • Aggro
  • Whoever has the highest Threat has an enemies’ Aggro.
  • When a hero has an enemies’ Aggro, the enemy will generally attempt to prioritize attacking this target.

Tank Tips:

  • Due to the initial increased threat, tanks should be the first to initiate fights.
  • Every tank has a Taunt ability.
  • This ability will immediately set the tank to the highest threat for an enemy.
  • When allies have Aggro on enemies, the best way to help the tank get them off is to stay close to the tank.
  • Tanks have great Crowd Control, they often have abilities to Interrupt, Slow, Stun, or Reposition enemies.
  • When fighting dangerous enemies with frontal attacks and cleaves, try to face them away from your allies.
  • Tanks have the shortest interrupt cooldown, use this often to lessen the healers burden.

Hero Mechanics

Meiko is a close-combat hero, and fights mainly in melee range. Enemies need to be selected, close, and in front of her.

Meiko's unique Hero Mechanics:

  • Ability Combos require Combo Builders to use powerful Finishing Moves
    • Spirit Palm, Wind Kick, and Earth Fist are Combo Builders
    • Combining two Combo Builders will grant Meiko access to a Finishing Move.
      • Read the Finishing Move tooltip on your ability bar for a full list of abilities and descriptions.
    • Palm Technique Finishing Moves grant offensive and defensive buffs.
    • Kick Technique Finishing Moves empower and deal multi-target attacks.
    • Fist Technique Finishing Moves empower and deal single target attacks.
  • Survival Abilities
    • Meiko must rely on self-buffs and big cooldown abilities to survive.
    • Stone Shield is Meiko's main source of Armor and damage mitigation.
    • Serenity slowly charges up from Auto Attacking that Meiko can use to heal herself.
    • Twin Souls: Bulwark turns all enemy Aggro towards a stone duplicate of yourself.
      • Use this when you are about to be overwhelmed to buy yourself time to recover.
  • Spirit Ability - Twin Souls: Army of One
    • Meiko embodies the Sibling of Earth, taking 40% reduced damage for a short duration.
    • Siblings of Wind will teleport and attack nearby enemies.
    • Meiko also gains 30% haste for 20 seconds.

Meiko Tips:

    • Meiko is an advanced combo fighter, so it's advised to memorize her Ability Combos and Finishing Moves for optimized play
    • Finishing Moves are integral to playing Meiko effectively.
    • You do not need to use a Finishing Move to reset your combo if you input the wrong combination.
    • Maintain your self-buffs efficiently!
      • Make sure that you always have Stone Shield up to maximize your survivability
      • Spirited Strikes gives a bonus to Parry.
      • Spirited Vortex establishes threat to all nearby enemies through damage and gives a bonus to Dodge.
      • Lashing Stormkick should be cast when you have stacks of Stormfall from Rising Storm.
      • Earthfist Barrage should be cast when you have stacks of Earthfall from Rising Earth.
