fellowship difficult one star

Mara is a melee DPS class hero in Fellowship. As a Rogue Assassin, Mara uses stealth to gain the advantage over the opposition with a cloaking ability that makes this possible. When she delivers strikes to her enemies, unaware of her position, the damage is significant. She utilizes her abilities to generate combo points. When she uses combo points on her special abilities, she becomes empowered, bolstering her damage impact with each point used. Her primary focus is to inflict damage in an area, buffing herself to then cast powerful targeted abilities.

Mara has various talents to choose from, ranging from poison-focused, to finisher move-focused to hemorrhaging strike bleed-focused. We currently recommend the Hemorrhaging Strike Build that significantly leverages Hemorrhaging Strike to amplify damage output and make Mara unstoppable, especially on longer fights.

Mara Biography in Fellowship

Shrouded in mystery, not much is known about Mara's past. Nobody seems to really know who she is or where she comes from. Nevertheless, her blades have remained true, and she has proven to be a powerful ally to the Fellowship.

Mara BiS Weapons

Mara has a couple of good Weapon options at her disposal for boosting her damage output. The Fateful Dagger is a great main option thanks to its ability to deal cleave damage, which comes with a relatively short cooldown of 60 seconds. Upon use, Fated Strike also buffs your Expertise by 20% and grants you significant Cooldown Recovery for 6 seconds, allowing you to use your core Skills more often. In addition, the Weapon Ability can also be used at range to charge at your primary target in order to engage enemies more easily.

The Wildstone Shard is another solid pick as it provides you with both AoE damage and crowd control. The Weapon’s ability to stun enemies in a cone in front of you not once, but twice, can help relieve some pressure off your tank or buy some time for your healer in particularly clutch moments. Having a reliable source of ranged AoE damage can be quite useful on a melee-focused Hero like Mara during situations where you need to keep your distance from enemies while still contributing to the fight.

We recommend going with the Fateful Dagger if you’re looking for a straightforward main Weapon that offers multiple benefits. The Wildstone Shard is also a very good choice, but it’s a bit more situational and its real value comes from the utility it brings to the table, more so than the damage itself.

Best Weapon Traits

The best Weapon Traits for Mara will vary slightly depending on your specific playstyle. Having said that, some of the available Traits are so good that you'll often want to stick with them regardless of how you approach Combat. Below, we've split the Weapon Traits into three categories based on how much value they offer to Mara players.

Must-have Traits

  • Visions of Grandeur – All-around fantastic choice that enables you to use Matriarch Macabre more often
  • Brave Machinations - Solid Critical Strike chance and Cooldown reduction buffs for your Weapon Ability
  • Inspired Allegiance - Enables you to use your Weapon Ability more often while also providing a Haste buff for you and your allies
  • Hidden Power – Increases your main stat by up to 12% for 15 seconds
  • Vengeful Soul – Offers a nice Main Stat buff while also healing you if you’re below 50% health when it procs

Decent Traits

Not Recommended (Unless You Have no Choice) Traits

Gem Priority

Gems in Fellowship offer various bonuses depending on their type. While it may be tempting to socket as many Gem types as possible into your Equipment in exchange for a wide variety of bonuses, it's generally a lot more efficient to specialize and focus on just a few types.

Mara benefits the most from Gems that increase her Critical Strike (Amethyst) and Ultimate (Sapphire). Boosting your Main Stat (Ruby) and Expertise (Emerald) is very important as well. Generally speaking, Mara’s Gem priority should largely be as follows

Amethyst -> Sapphire -> Ruby -> Emerald -> Topaz -> Diamond

Builds

The build is primarily focused on stopping hemorrhaging and causing as many bleeds as possible.

This build is focused on getting the most out of Queen's Fang and Arachnid Assault, bursting enemies in a matter of seconds.

For Mara you want to aim for roughly 14% haste, after than you will want to stack both expertise and crit and they will both contribute to your damage output.

Mara Quick Guide in Fellowship

Overview

Mara is a melee-ranged Damage Dealer that uses Building and Spending mechanics on her Combo Points system. Her main aim is to burst enemies with powerful attacks while cleansing hordes of lesser enemies with damage-over-time skills. She has access to abilities that generate Combo Points, and the player's aim is to generate up to six Combo Points to then spend them on one of her three powerful finishers: Queen's Fang, Hemorrhaging Strike, or Arachnid Assault.

Mara's primary power stat is Agility. All damage she deals is affected by this stat.

Role Mechanics

Damage Dealers (DPS) are primarily responsible for the following mechanics:

  • Crowd Control (CC)
    • Every Damage Dealer Hero has abilities that can Interrupt, Slow, Stun, and/or Reposition enemies.
      • These should be used frequently to increase your party's chances of survival.
      • More of these abilities unlock upon completing higher mission difficulties.
    • Enemy abilities that are Interruptible are indicated by Yellow Cast Bars underneath enemy Health Bars.
  • Dealing Damage
    • Every hero has a Core Rotation, which is usually the optimal use of several abilities for the best effect.
      • For Damage Dealers especially, learning their Core Rotation and when to deviate is the key to mastery!
    • Damage Dealer Heroes define the duration of combat as they generally deal the majority of the damage.
    • Keeping an eye on the Damage Meter helps to compare the damage across the group.
      • The Damage Meter is also a good indicator to understand how well you are playing.
    • Many damaging abilities excel at either single-target damage or dealing damage to groups of enemies.
  • Surviving
    • Keep an eye on the battlefield to avoid dangerous enemy attacks!
      • A dead Damage Dealer kills nothing.
    • Damage Dealers have at least one ability to help them with mobility and to reduce incoming damage.

Damage Dealer Tips:

      • Don't stand in Area of Effect spells on the ground. Use mobility and damage mitigation abilities to survive!
      • Use [Tab] to quickly cycle through enemies that are in front of you.
      • Pick your targets wisely!
      • Focusing on the most dangerous enemy, the other Damage Dealer can protect your party.
      • Attacking the target of the tank can help you avoid getting Aggro.
      • Finishing off enemies with low health will support your Tank and Healer.

Hero Mechanics

Mara is a close-combat hero and fights mainly in melee range with instant cast abilities. Enemies must be selected, within range, and positioned in front of him.

Mara's unique Hero Mechanics:

      • Combo Points is your Builder/Spender resource
        • Max 6 Combo Points can be held at a time.
        • You can generate Combo Points with Backstab, Widow's Bite, and Skittering Blades.
          • Backstab inflicts more damage if you hit an enemy from the back.
          • Maiden of Death can be used to make these three abilities generate the full six Combo Points.
        • Combo Points can be spent on three abilities: Hemorrhaging Strike, Queen's Fang, and Arachnid Assault.
        • The more Combo Points you spend when casting one of those three abilities, the more effective the ability will be.
      • Brooding Shadows is an ability that empowers some of your other abilities for a short time, also allowing Mara to enter into her Stealth form, making her undetectable to enemies.
        • Backstab applies Caustic Poison, allowing you to generate six Combo Points immediately.
        • Widow's Bite applies Seething Poison, which inflicts constant damage for 60 seconds, also enhancing your Energy Regeneration.
        • Skittering Blades applies Volatile Poison, which inflicts constant damage for 6 seconds, and then explodes, inflicting AoE damage.
      • Spirit Ability - Matriarch Macabre
        • For the next 20 seconds, Mara will be able to create clones of herself whenever she casts Queen's Fang or Arachnid Assault.
        • These clones will imitate the damage Mara dealt with the ability that summoned them.
        • Mara also gains 30% haste for 20 seconds.

Mara Tips:

    • Try always to accumulate as many Combo Points as you can before casting one of your finisher abilities.
      • Use Maiden of Death as much as you can, so you can quickly generate more Combo Points.
    • Use Enveloping Web to stun an enemy, making things easier for you to land a proper Backstab, allowing you to start linking abilities to generate Combo Points.
    • Try to always keep an eye to the enemy you are attacking; focus on applying Hemorrhage or Poison to a big group of enemies then start attacking the big ones first with your bursting damage abilities.
