Strength

Effect Increases damage with strength-based weapons and skills and allows you to lift and carry heavier items

Strength is an Attribute in Divinity Original Sin 2 (DOS 2). All characters begin with a basic 10 points in each attribute. Characters can be customized with 3 additional attribute points at the start of the game and acquire 2 more points per level. A total of 30 points can be added to an attribute for a maximum of 40 points. This maximum can be further augmented through equipment. The Lone Wolf talent allows players to double their investment in attributes and combat skills.

I don’t know why but I almost always have 2 strength characters in my group, a sword and board and a 2h even tho the majority of the skills out there are better off for finess or int. More fun this way I guess

Sucks that it's basically mandatory for the carry weight. They should've made carry weight part of the constitution stat or given strength builds more options. Compared to intelligence and finesse it's so boring and one-dimensional.

Also useful for opening some coffins in act 2, although you can often switch gear or eat food to meet these checks.
