Divinity Original Sin 2 Tags Guide

How Do I Choose Tags in DOS 2?

During the Character Creation phase, other than choosing the appearance of your character, you can also choose your Race, Origin, Gender and Aspiration, also known as Tags. You will need to be sure of what you want to choose during this portion of the Character Creation because even though you will be able to respec your character with the Magic Mirror, you will not be able to respec the tags of your character.

Do Tags Affect Dialogue Choices in DOS 2?

You will have different dialogue options depending on the tags you choose, sometimes they can be good options that have a positive outcome, and sometimes they can have a negative effect to the outcome of the quest. Not having tags will not give you many dialogue options, therefore, it will not shape the story for the player. Tags provide a storyline that is built around how you converse and act during quests.

What are the Types of Tags in DOS 2?

There are 5 tags in DOS 2 that you will need to choose for. The 5 main tags are Gender, Race, Origin, Starter, and Special. Once you have chosen an option for each tag, you will not be able to change anymore throughout the game.

  • Gender: Determines how others refer to you
  • Race: Determines the race you belong to. Choosing the Undead tag will also provide with an additional tag that shows which undead race you are.
  • Origin: Determines the origin of your character or your companion. They have a set of tags that come with choosing a tag for Origin.
  • Starter: Determines the specialization of your character, however, origin characters and custom-created characters already have a set of tags that cannot be changed.
  • Special: Based on the actions you chose throughout the game. This is the only tag that is granted to you depending on your actions throughout the game.

To my knowledge, there no "rogue" tag. Or at least it is not one that you can choose when creating a character.

There is a tag called "Dwarf-friend" in the game. It appeared to me only once during the quest in driftwood fishworks that you need to eat void-tainted fish. I finished the quest with Mordus first, and gave the letter to Lohar. The tag was not useful at all.

Also you can get unique hat with Noble tag in act 4. Still pretty useless cuz you can use it only for one dialogue..

Fake tags like demon, commoner, leader, adventurer, promised just trolling and doesn't exist even in game files. You can get only hero, villain, champion of arena tags.
