It's not easy to build a team around Zankou in NTE since her gameplay requires certain effects that only a few characters can apply. It's even harder to find an F2P team for her because there are no F2P Chaos characters to trigger Scorch with. In this guide, I'll explain how to build a strong Premium Team for Zankou, alongside providing an F2P alternative that can work with her kit.

Zankou Best Teams

Zankou is a strong DPS that needs as much field time as she can get to deal high DMG. For that, it's important to team her with characters who won't compete for her field time. The best kind of characters to do that are supports who can increase her DMG, which is a win-win situation for Zankou.

These are the best teams for Zankou in NTE:

Zankou Premium Team: Zankou + Sakiri + Lacrimosa + Iroi
Zankou F2P Team: Zankou + Daffodill + Haniel + Adler

Zankou's gameplay revolves around activating her Heartwrench and Delusion forms. Both forms help her apply DoT on enemies and then buff the Crit DMG of all DoT on those enemies. Additionally, Zankou enhances the DoT playstyle with her passive, as she replaces her team's DoTs with Scorch reactions of her own, greatly buffing their DPS. The idea of this Zankou team comp is to pair her with Anima and Chaos characters to trigger Hexed and Scorch on every rotation. Hexed will deal 20% follow-up DMG to any Incantation and Anima DMG dealt, which also includes Scorch, further increasing the DoT DMG. Iroi is a universal healer and buffer, which makes her fit to join any team. However, when Linko is out, she's the perfect fit to trigger Hexed with Zankou, as she greatly synergizes with Zankou's gameplay.

Another interesting part of Zankou's kit is her second passive that fills her Cycle Energy at the start of combat, giving you a reason to start with Zankou and immediately switch her out with another character to start the rotation. The best character to switch to is Lacrimosa to trigger Scorch. Then continue with her and apply everything to fill her Esper Cycle. Sakiri should be next to apply her buffs and set the field ready for Zankou. Finally, end with Iroi, who'll get Hexed ready for Zankou to exploit when she gets on the field. Now that all the buffs are ready, switch to Zankou to get her field time and deal massive DMG with the help of her team.

Zankou + Daffodill + Haniel + Adler

It's hard to find an F2P team for Zankou since there are no free 5-star characters or 4-star Chaos characters in the game. However, if you previously got Daffodill with one of the free standard character events, then you can build an F2P Zankou team in NTE. This F2P Zankou team focuses on breaking enemies as fast as possible using Daffodill and the Discord reaction. Haniel operates as the team buffer, where she further helps Daffodill and Zankou deal more DMG. The Nova reaction between Daffodill and Haniel won't affect Zankou's gameplay, as it's just a one-time instance of massive DMG. Finally, Adler is the team shielder who also applies a slight debuff when enemies are inflicted with Scorch.

Ironically, this team's break gameplay will be greatly enhanced if you unlock Zankou's A5, which allows her to instantly break enemies and buff the team's break DMG by 300%.
