Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto has been spotted wearing a Fiorentina kit as he closes in on an exit from Elland Road.

The Whites have been open to a move for the Italy international to depart this summer after a lack of regular first-team football over the last 12 months, with Daniel Farke having changed his formation away from using natural wingers.

Sky Sports Italia reported over the weekend that Leeds were in talks with Serie A side Fiorentina over a loan move for Gnonto to return to his homeland, and it seems that deal has now been completed after fresh footage emerged on Monday night.

Posting a video on his X account, Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio showed the 22-year-old coming out of a building to greet fans outside while sporting a Fiorentina shirt.

The winger spoke briefly to fans and reporters who had gathered outside before getting in a car and driving off, with a medical understood to be completed before a deal is to be finalised on Tuesday.

Gnonto will join the likes of Illan Meslier, Pascal Struijk, Karl Darlow, Isaac Schmidt, Sebastian Bornaauw, Jack Harrison, Sam Byram, Joel Piroe, Joe Gelhardt, and Lucas Perri who have all departed the club this summer, with Daniel Farke making major changes to his squad.

Leeds have brought in Harry Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham, while Tarek Muharemovic, James Trafford, Nico Elvedi, and Michael Zetterer have all joined the club as they look to cement their Premier League status once again.

The Yorkshire side have started the new season well, claiming a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on the opening day before a 1-1 draw with Brentford on Sunday in their second game. They also progressed to the third round of the EFL Cup, beating Forest 2-0.

Farke Delighted With Gnonto Attitude

Wilfried Gnonto Leeds

Gnonto was named on the substitutes bench for Leeds' 1-1 draw with Brentford at the weekend, but was once again unused and is yet to feature for a single minute for the Whites this season.

However, speaking after the game when asked about transfer interest in the player, Farke intimated that nothing was close at the time, and that he was very happy with the player's attitude.

"With Willy, if there would be something he wouldn't be in the squad today. I just have players who are really focused," he said.

"I was happy that Willy is, and since today, back in team training, and he adapted his body, reacted in a positive way.

"Normally after just two days back in training after injury, you don't find a spot, but at the moment, the group is not too big. And for that, we had him on the bench.

"But with Willy, as long as he's here, he's fully in my plans. He was also totally focused and fully committed and didn't have any other signs, otherwise he wouldn't be in the squad."

However, a deal now is all but done, and Gnonto will be returning to Italy for the upcoming campaign.
