Scavenger Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Scavenger:
The Scavenger is resistant to most elemental damage, only being neutral to Physical Damage and vulnerable to Light Damage, so try to stick to those two types of attacks. Avoid using Dark attacks, as the boss absorbs them and heals instead of taking damage. Verso is great for the fight with his Light leaning kit, especially when using one of his Light-element weapons, such as Blodam, Delaram, Seeram, etc. Skills like Perfect Break and Phantom Stars are great for high Light-element damage, while Purification and Perfect Recovery are good options for removing status effects, especially Dizzy.
When the Scavenger hides in the fog and becomes invisible, it also becomes invulnerable and won't take any damage. You need to use Free Aim to target and shoot the masks that flicker in and out of sight. The Scavenger will only be revealed and vulnerable to damage again once they are all destroyed. If the masks are not destroyed before the boss takes another turn, it will attack using them, inflicting Dizzy on the party to make shooting them more difficult. The boss will also reappear with a powerful AOE attack that targets the whole party, keeping the masks in battle to continue to attack the party in succeeding turns.
Maelle can also help with the fight with her Physical attacks, utilising Sword Ballet in combination with a physical weapon like the Medalum will help deal significant amounts of damage. Monoco, Lune, or Sciel can act as support, healing, buffing, and AP generators for the party. Lune is not particularly useful for damage on this fight, due to the Scavenger's blanket elemental resist, and Sciel is quite ineffective, due to all of her heaviest damage abilities dealing Dark damage.
Scavenger Attacks & Counters
| Attack | Description | Counter |
| Four-Hit Combo | The Scavenger leaps up towards the party and deals a four-hit combo with its arms to a single target. | The attack comes in pairs, so dodge or parry the first two as the boss's hands come close to the target. Wait for a little while, as there is a slight wind-up delay before the third and fourth swings come. Parry all four hits to counterattack. |
| Dark Magic Attack | The Scavenger casts dark magic that explodes in an eight-hit combo targeting random party members. | A visual cue to the attack is the black cloud of magic that begins to gather towards the target, wait for most of it to have gathered towards the character before parrying. There is also an audio cue of the explosion charging up, a high-pitched sound; wait for the sound to reach its peak to parry. Successfully parrying all eight hits will perform a counterattack. |
| Darkening the Sky | The Scavenger darkens the sky and turns dawn into darkness. | Not an attack, but prepare for more powerful attacks. This will occur multiple times throughout the fight, indicating more powerful attacks being unlocked. This occurs regardless of whether it is the boss's turn or not, even if the boss is stunned. |
| Mask Summoning | The Scavenger summons masks that flicker in and out of sight which can attack. | N/A |
| Fractured Night | The Scavenger explodes and then disappears into the fog, becoming invisible and invulnerable to damage. The attack targets the whole party. | The Scavenger will gather dark magic in two steps before exploding and disappearing into the fog. To successfully counterattack, parry as soon as the animation of the explosion starts. Shoot the masks as they flicker in and out of sight to avoid their incoming attack. |
| Concealed Mask Shot Attack | The Scavenger attacks from the fog and uses the mask to fire off beams of energy at a target, inflicting Dizzy if it hits. | The attack has a slight charge-up before the shot fires off. Parry right at the visual cue when the dark magic-like cloud that gathers around the masks disappears. There will also be an audio cue of a charge-up sound that should help to parry the attack. |
| Obscura Reprisal | The Scavenger gathers dark magic while concealed and explodes, targeting the whole party. | Much like how the Scavenger disappeared and hid in the fog, the boss gathers dark magic into itself twice before the explosion. Parry the attack as soon as the animation for the explosion starts after the two initial charge-ups are finished. If all masks are shot, the boss doesn't use this attack. |
