How to Get Medalum in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Option 1:

• The weapon is rewarded if Maelle is selected to fight and win against the "The Stranger" who is the final opponent in the Gestral Village Arena Tournament. To enter the tournament, speak to the "Chef" of the gestral village, Golgra.

How to Get Medalum in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Option 2:

• If you missed the first option, you can fight Golgra and win to get the weapon. Easily missed since fighting Golgra is optional. The optional fight against Golgra is after you complete the gestral tournament in the Gestral Village. Just speak to Golgra at her house and choose the dialogue option to provoke her to a fight, and then select Maelle.
• This is an exceedingly difficult fight until much higher levels are achieved. It is strongly recommended to complete the last fight in the Gestral Village Arena Tournament with Maelle, as all of the other weapons awarded by the final fight are much more easily acquired.

(Needs Testing and Confirmation) If option 2 doesn't work, there might be a requirement you need to complete, which is to fight Golgra in other locations. You can fight Golgra in three different encounters:

• The first instance you can fight her is your initial arrival in Gestral Village after you complete the Gestral Tournament.
• The second is at the Sacred River during Monoco's relationship side quest.
• The third is at the Dark Gestral Arena.
• Note: You don't have to complete the Sacred River and Dark Gestral Arena encounters in any particular order, as long as you fight her at both locations.
• Return to the Gestral Village and choose Maelle to fight against Golgra.

• Medalum is an exceptionally strong weapon for a Virtuose-focused Maelle build, as it skips the preliminary step required to enter Virtuose (and, if using Swift Stride, the requirement for the target to be Burning first). It also works remarkably well for a Burn-focused build, using Mezzo Forte to maintain Virtuose Stance and generate AP, and Free Aim to inflict Burns.
• The level 10 effect can dramatically increase the amount of Burn applied when using skills such as Spark, Rain of Fire, Pyrolyse, Burning Canvas, and Phoenix Flame. It also stacks with Double Burn and similar effects, and will affect burns from all sources, such as Burning Shots and Burning Break. Due to how rapidly this can stack Burn, this synergizes very well with the damage increase on Burning Canvas, as well as heavy Combustion usage.
• If using a Burn-focused build, it is recommended to take as many Burn-oriented Luminas/Pictos as feasible, such as Double Burn, Longer Burn, Burn Affinity, Burning Shots, Burning Mark + Marking Shots, Critical Burn, Energizing Burn, Breaking Burn + Burning Break + Fueling Break (+Sniper to avoid needing to use a skill to Break the target), etc.
