Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Sciel Character Overview
Starting Attributes for Sciel
- Health: 318
- Attack Power: 273
- Speed: 251
- Defense: 0
- Critical Rate: 5%
Sciel's playstyle is similar to a builder/spender concept, where players must strategically use Skills to apply Foretell
to enemies, then use other skills to consume the Foretell
for dramatically increased effect. Sciel can normally apply a maximum of 10 Foretell
at a time per enemy. Some skills state that using it will apply Foretell
while others will consume Foretell
. Skills that apply Foretell
generate 1
Sun Charge, while Skills that consume Foretell
give Sciel 1
Moon Charge. Sciel can stack Sun or Moon charges without any practical limit. It is important to read the effects of her skills since each can trigger extra effects if conditions are met. For example, if Focused Foretell is used against an enemy that doesn't have Foretell
, the enemy acquires 5 Foretell
instead of 2. Some weapon effects (e.g. Chation, Direton) allow Foretell
to go beyond the normal 10/20 maximum.
If Sciel has at least 1
Sun Charge and 1
Moon Charge at the start of her turn, they will be consumed and Sciel will enter
Twilight for 2 turns. While in
Twilight:
- Sciel applies double Foretell
. This applies to Foretell from all sources, including weapon traits and Gradient Attacks. - The maximum number of Foretell Sciel can stack per enemy increases from 10 to 20. Foretell stacks above the normal cap of 10 will persist even after Twilight expires.
- Damage done is increased by 25% per
Sun and
Moon charge consumed to activate Twilight (ex. 2 Sun and 1 Moon provide a 75% damage bonus during that Twilight). - Sciel's skills no longer generate Sun and Moon charges for the duration.
While Sciel is in Twilight, it is highly recommended to maximize the benefits of the effect. As it both doubles the application and cap of Foretell, this can allow substantially stronger Moon skills (Foretell consumers), which are then further increased by the native Twilight damage bonus. Ideally, each Twilight should include both a Sun skill for applying the bonused Foretell, and then a Moon skill to consume it for substantially increased damage. Once Twilight ends, Sciel's
Sun and
Moon charges will reset to zero, and she'll need to repeat the process of using skills to generate both types of charges, allowing her to enter Twilight again.
Sciel has solid build options for both damage and support roles. Skills such as Grim Harvest, Plentiful Harvest, All Set, Fortune's Fury, Intervention, Dark Cleansing and Delaying Slash can provide extremely strong party support options, with several providing entirely unique benefits not available to any other characters. Sciel is particularly well oriented towards a party buffer role, being the only character capable of simultaneously applying Shell, Rush, and Powerful to the entire party at the same time (via All Set) without later-game Pictos/Luminas. On the damage front, Twilight Dance in particular can both apply extreme single-target damage and extend the current duration of Twilight by 1 turn. While Sciel has no significant orientation around any particular attributes, most builds for her are more effective with high Speed, especially support builds. Damage builds including Spectral Sweep or Plentiful Harvest can benefit from Critical Rate, but Sciel lacks any other notable skill interactions with Critical Rate.
Sciel Relationship Guide for Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Upon reaching Act II of the game, Verso can start to build his relationship with his allies by spending time with them back at Camp. The primary factor in how to progress each character's story or to increase the level is by progressing the main story of the game. Each time you complete a major objective, progress the game, or clear out any explorable locations, it's a good practice to go back to the expeditioner's Camp and check up on the team.
Another factor is to choose "check up on others" by interacting with the bonfire to trigger any cutscenes, which can also contribute to unlocking the option to "spend time" with a character to increase the relationship level. As soon as you reach Act III, we highly recommend maxing out all the Relationship Levels with all the characters before finishing the last location of the main campaign.
- The Max Relationship Level is Level 7.
- Building Relationships becomes available in Act II.
- Verso can pursue a romantic relationship with Sciel.
- At Relationship Level 4 with Sciel: Unlocks Gradient Attack for Sciel, Doom.
- When spending time with Sciel, the goal is to convince her to face her fear of swimming or water.
- By helping her, you can also unlock an outfit for Sciel: Swimsuit 1
- Also unlocks an outfit for Verso for helping Sciel: Swimsuit 2
- At Relationship Level 6 with Sciel: Acquire the "Sciel" Music Record.
- At Relationship Level 7 with Sciel: Unlocks Gradient Attack for Sciel, End Slice.
- Acquire the "Sciel" Trophy/Achievement for reaching Max Relationship Level with Sciel.

The Sealed Fat skill costs 4 AP to cast and deals high damage with 5 to 7 hits to a single target using your equipped weapon's element. Sciel's Story in Clair Obscur Expedition 33
The History of Sciel
Sciel was once a farmer, a teacher, and the wife of Pierre. Pierre was part of Lumiere's Outdome Team, which gathered plant samples from surrounding areas to study and to plant around Lumiere. He later met Sciel while she tended to her garden, and she asked for some Honey Petal Samples. To her surprise, Pierre got her a whole bouquet, along with 15 boxes of plant cuttings for her to grow in her garden. They later became teachers together in the local school before Pierre had to leave with his team to search and gather more plants. In one of the outlying islands, there was an accident that cost Pierre his life. With this devastation, Sciel attempted to drown herself. Although she survived, the unborn child she was carrying did not. It is later revealed that Esquie was actually her saviour, he later shared his love for stones while she shared her love for Pierre, which is the French translation of Stones.
The Honesty of Sciel
Sciel's honesty is stronger than anyone else within the Expedition 33; she does not hide her scars, she does not hide her joy, and she does not hide her pain. When we first meet Sciel, she is excited to reunite with the team, but is quickly interrupted by Lune, who eagerly wants to continue the mission. Throughout the campsite cutscenes, Sciel has always been the embodiment of hope for the team. She is always seeing the brighter side of things, but we only find out later how much weight she carries from losing her unborn child and husband, losing her friends, and being all alone. She confides in Verso, whom she deeply understands as they share a similar pain. She is not quick to judge him or the Paintress. In fact, she also shares an understanding with the Paintress and would also do the same thing if she had that power. In the end, she empathizes with Verso's choice to erase the canvas, but she also does not hide her sadness knowing she will never see Pierre again.
