Fort Northreach Walkthrough
Reach the Outpost
After watching the brief cutscene of seeing another survivor, you will have full control of your character and this is when the Main Quest On Strange Shores begins. This quest acts as the tutorial section of the game to get you familiar with the controls and the mechanics. Head over to the survivor and speak to him, he is pleased to know that you are alive. Sometimes there will be available dialogue options depending on your background or if you possess the required amount of an attribute. You can also select to see the dialogue history and lore to learn about the highlighted words in dialogues from other NPCs. In this case, you can learn what an Envoy is, which is an official representative of Aedyr tasked to investigate the Dreamscourge and maintain order. Garryck is at a loss for words on what happened, so continue talking to him to learn about him and the current situation. You will have the following dialogue options followed with the required attributes:
- [Constitution 2] pr [Might 2] ------
- [Perception 2] If we make it out of this alive, the emperor will certainly have questions.
- [Desxterity 1] I'm impressed you dragged me out of that wreck.
- I'm confused. What happened?
This dialogue shows the outcome if you choose the Perception dialogue option. Garryck tells you he heard cannons firing upon reaching the island and is strange as they have an outpost on the island and suspects that something might have been wrong for them to have attacked your ship. He tells you that the best way to escape is through the fort, and make your way to the embassy in the port of Paradis in Aedyr. After speaking with Garryck, you can find a Common Sword behind Garryck and a Health Potion next to it.

You can explore the beach and practice your combat in the meantime. At the far end of the beach, opposite the breakable wall, you will be able to pick up Palm Stone from a short palm tree that is situated by two taller palm trees. Towards the right of the boards are two Makeshift Graves that you can interact with to read the message for the grave. After the graves, you can find a single body lying next to a pile of bodies that you can loot a Health Potion from. In front of the breakable wall, you can find the body of an Aedyran Sailor and loot 6 Silver Fennings from it. Nearby you can break some boxes to find some Copper Skeyt.

Once you have completed exploring the beach, make your way to the breakable wall and break through it with your sword. Follow the quest marker and climb up the wooden ledges to a hole that you have to crouch under to get through. Make your way toward the left of the cliff to find a waterfall, on the stream, you will be able to pick up Krakenhorn. Jump to the other side and climb up the ledges on the left and go through the tunnel. Garryck will make a remark that the fort has lit its distress beacon, which is safe to assume that you will begin to encounter some enemies called Xaurip.

Hop down the ledge at the end of the tunnel to go against the Xaurip, you will gain 10 XP once you have defeated the Xaurip. Behind it is a boulder with handprints and drawings on it, on the ground, you can find Skaenbone. Continue past the boulder, toward the right is a path that you can climb up to. Slowly walk the path as you will find some tripwires, you can disarm them by interacting with the ends of the wire to avoid them. At the second trip wire, you will be able to pick up a Health Potion. At the end of the path, you can find a makeshift plank to cross the waterfall and Springberries at the very end. Pick up the Springberries and cross the bridge to the other side.
Escape the Outpost
Climb up the ladder, up the ledge, and into the fort. At the first small round table, you can pick up Chirurgeon's Notes and a locked door on the left that needs the Fort Northreach Storage Key to be unlocked. For now, continue through the fort, and you will find the body of an Aedyran Soldier by double doors that you can interact with, Garryck will make a remark that there is something on its face. On the left is an open path you can go through.

In the next room, you will find a large green crystal that appears to be growing from the ground called the Adra Pillar. When you are close to the pillar, you will hear a voice speaking to you. By the pillar, you can pick up the Pillars of Eternity. On the large roots behind the pillar, you can pick up Settler's Arrow. In the room to the left of the pillar, you can pick up a bowl of Stew. Next to it, is a breakable wall. Break through it, in the right side of the room, you can pick up the Steadman's Log, Second Entry, and on the table on the left, you can pick up the Steadman's Log, First Entry, and an Apple. On the left through the large hole in the wall, there is a table where you can pick up Roasted Chicken from at the end of the room and you can find a body leaning on a wall with outlines and blood on the floor that goes through the wall. On the left is a button you can interact with to open the secret door on the wall. Once the secret door opens, you will find a Dreamthrall Swarmer that can poison you if it manages to hit you, it is already low in health so a few hits will take it out. Inside the room you will find scribbles and doodles on the wall with what might be blood, on a table at the end of the room, you can pick up Kith Meat and a Lockbox that contains Vambraces. On the left side of the table, you can pick up Jailer's Bill. Exit the room and go towards the gated door to the right of the pillar to find another body of an Aedyran Solder, where you can loot the Fort Northreach Storage Key and some Copper Skeyt. Use the key to the storage room where you can find several wooden boxes, barrels, and a chest that contains a Common Breastplate. You can use the crates as steps to climb up to reach the Health Potion and a Medium Stack of Copper Skeyts.

Exit the room and make your way back to the gated door to the right of the pillar. On a low table, you can pick up the Mad Soldier's Rambling. Follow the quest marker to an open field where you will need to fight off a Xaurip Guard and some Xaurips.
After taking out the Xaurips, head into the small cave to pick up a Health Potion. To the right of the double doors, you can pick up Springberries. Head through the double doors to find that the path is blocked by some brambles and a body in front. Interact with the body to pick up a Health Potion, and interact with the brambles to learn that you will need to burn it down. For now, head through the smaller double doors on the left. You will find three locked jail cells and two of which can be unlocked with the Fort Northreach Jail Key, one of them has a prisoner named Ilora. Speak to her, but she will be a little hostile towards you until Garryck tells her who you are, you will have an extra dialogue option if you have the Noble Scion background.
- [Might 2] ------
- [Noble Scion] You wouldn't be the first to say ut my face has gotten me this far...
- Calm down. I've been through enough today.
- [Shrug.] If I knew which god "blessed" me, I would ask them.
- Enough about me. Why are you locked up.
Choosing the Noble Scion option will make Ilora more willing to tell you about what happened on the island, she begins to generalize the Aedyran's towards you, and the Paradisans don't go against each other. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Perception 2] Could the soldiers have had the soul plague the emperor sent me to investigate?
- Are you talking about this fort?
- I hope that's not your alibi.
- Wait. So our own men did sink our ship?
Choosing the Perception dialogue and Ilora will talk more about what she had witnessed. Once she is done, you will have the following dialogue options:
- [Intellect 2] And you saw all that from your cell, did you?
- Right. Then what?
- But that's horrible. How could they do such a thing?
Choose the Intellect dialogue and she will continue to talk about her experience on the island. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Intellect 2] [Narrow your eyes.] The storm made them go mad?
- Hang on. You said their faces "changed," but that man's face looks normal.
- How did you know it was cannon fire and not thunder?
- Why would they put a soldier in here with you?
Choosing the Intellect dialogue will have Garryck express his doubts towards Ilora. You will have the following dialogue option:
- [Noble Scion] What if you've unjustly accused an innocent woman of murder?
- I agree. This all sounds suspicious.
- She said it was self-defense. I'm inclined to believe her.
- Let's hear her out before we decide.
Choosing the Noble Scion dialogue will lead to Ilora mentioning that she has a boat at the edge of the island. However, Garryck doesn't seem to believe her and doesn't think it is a good idea to let her go. To the left of the locked door are wooden ledges that you can hop up, once you're at the top, hop to the wooden platform on the other side. In the right corner, you can break the boxes and pick up some Copper Skeyt and a Health Potion. In the left corner, you will find a Spoiled Cucumber, and a breakable box with a Spoiled Cabbage. Next to that is another ledge, with a path that goes to the left and the right. For now, go to the right. You will find a body that can be looted to obtain an Essence Potion and beside it is a breakable floor. Break the floor to drop down into the room past the locked door in the prison. There you can find a large chest that contains some Copper Skeyt, Health Potion, Softwood Branch, and a Common Robe. Loot the items from the chest and pick up the Fort Northreach Jail Key next to the door.

Once you have the Jail Key, unlock the middle cell and crawl under the hole to the jail on the left to pick up Deerskin Gloves from the body. Next, unlock the jail cell to free Ilora. Now head back up to the crawlspace and head to the path on the left to end up back in the room with the brambles, you will also find that there is a body on the ledge with a Common Bow. Use the bow and shoot at Magran's Fury to set the brambles on fire which will open the path.

Head down to the now-opened path to find a few enemies on the other side of the broken bridge that can throw arrows at you, take a few steps back so that the enemies will drop down. Head back out and turn right towards the end, you will find a ledge that you can drop down the arena to. Sometimes they may hop up to the ledge you're on. Otherwise, take out the Xaurip Forager. Head back to the wooden ledges if you fought at the open area and follow the cliffside path going towards the waterfall. Crouch down and go through the cave and hop across the stone pillars to the other side of the broken bridge. Continue following the quest marker through the cave, crouch down in the tall grass, and practice performing stealth kills on the Xaurips. After taking out the enemies, head up the path across the field. Straight ahead is the quest progression, and on the right you will find loot, for now, head right. You can pick up Thornfruit, hop over to the other side and loot an Eggplant from the Xaurip Forager. Turn around and drop down the stream and walk through the waterfall, you will find a backpack containing Deerskin Boots.

Head back down the path and continue following the quest marker, and cross the pond. On the right, you can pick up Thornfruit, and continue on the path on the left to find a body and some loot around it such as an Essence Potion, a Common Grimoire of Elements, a Common Wand, and an Arrack. Ahead is another path blocked by bramble, you can shoot Magran's Fury which is situated above the bramble, or use your new weapons to burn down the bramble. Head through the now-opened path and pick up the Essence Potion by the body, drop down, and head right to pick up Soulsponge. You will find yourself in another large area with a few enemies such as a Xaurip Guard, Xaurip Forager, Xaurio Bruiser, and some Xaurips. You can choose to take them out with stealth kills or get into combat since you have Ilora and Garryck on your side to help fight. Once you have taken out all the enemies, head to the cave on the right before heading to the quest marker. Inside the cave, you can find a backpack that contains some Copper Skeyt and an Essence Potion.
Defeat the Aedyran Commander
Follow the quest marker to reach the Crumbling Ruins, continue through the cave to an opening that drops down and a Health Potion next to it. Pick up the potion and drop down into the water. Head up shore into another open area with the Steadman Ralke in the center, walk up to him, and speak with him to find that he has been affected by the plague. You will not be able to talk to him properly as the plague has affected his brain as well, you end up in combat with him resulting in the first Boss fight in this quest. Once you have successfully defeated him, you can loot the Senior Officer's Reprimand and a Common Great Hammer from him. In the arena, you can pick up Soulsponge and open the sarcophagus to obtain Pelt, Softwood Branch, and Essence Potion. On the left of the arena, head into the cave with water and cross to the other side, and head up the stairs. On the table by the stairs, you can pick up the Notes on the Godless. Turn around and hop over to the bridge. Cross the bridge to find a backpack at the end that contains some Copper Skeyt, Essence Potion, Softwood Branch, and Pelt.

Escape Fort Northreach
Once you are ready to leave, go through the arched doorway to find another Adra Pillar. Approach it to hear the voice again, and interact with the voice to listen to it. Garryck will interrupt to check on you, and you can tell him about the voice. Follow Ilora to her boat through the cave, you can pick up Burned Lady by a torch in the cave. Approach Ilora and her boat to leave the island and enter Paradis.

A cutscene will begin where you get shot and wake up in front of an Adra Pillar and what looks like souls being pulled to the pillar. You speak to the voice but they tell you that its not your time to die, so they send you back and revive you. When you wake up in Liviana's Clinic, Kai and Liviana are both shocked to see you awake. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Constitution 3] It's going to take more than a little murder to keep me down.
- What happened to me? All I remember is pain, and the voice...
- Slow down. Who are you?
- I'm sorry about all the trouble.
Choosing the Constitution option will lead to Liviana and Kai speak on how they're grateful you are alive, although, Liviana is still a bit confused how to came back to life. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Constitution 3] I've spent years building an immunity to poison.
- About that. How am I alive?
- I know! It's amazing!
- Then I came back. I don't want to dwell on it.
- Am I free to go? I need to see the ambassador.
Choosing the Constitution option will lead to Liviana thinking out loud on what may be the case, she later suggests that you speak with Runyd, their local Watcher. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Noble Scion] My family hired Watchers. Fools and fortune tellers, the lot of them.
- A Watcher?
- How do we know this "Watcher" can be trusted?
- I don't need some mystic to tell me I'm fine.
Choosing the Noble Scion option will lead to Liviana insisting that you see Runyd, and directs you to the embassy. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Intellect 1] You've given me a lot of directions.
- I'll report to Ambassador Hylgard right away.
- Let's see this Watcher first. Hylgard can wait.
Choosing the Intellect option will lead to Liviana apologizing to you as traveling around Paradis can be a little confusing, Kai is familiar with Paradis so he will continue to remain by your side.
Finding Your Murderer
After waking up in Liviana's Clinic, the Main Quest An Untimely End will begin. Make your way to the Ambassador's office and speak with Ambassador Falscen Hylgard. He is shocked to see you alive and well, you will have the following dialogue options:
- [Constitution 1] Disoriented, light-headed, my pulse is racing...

- Ready to get to work.
- Fine. So, who killed me?
- [Groan pitifully.] Like I've come back from the dead.
Choosing the first Constitution option will lead to Ambassador Hylgard to admire your dedication, he changes the topic and brings up your original plans in the Living Lands, to hand over the missive from the emperor. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Noble Scion] [Give him the emperor's missive.] As his majesty wills it, let it be done.
- [Give him the emperor's missive.] Here you are, Ambassador.
- [Give him the emperor's missive.] I hope this was worth all the trouble.
- [Give him the emperor's missive.] Glad to finally be rid of this thing.
Choosing the Noble Scion option will lead Ambassador Hylgard to praise you, and is pleased to hear the emperor's understanding of their situation. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Noble Scion] Trouble has a way of finding me, no matter how consequential I become.
- [Intellect 3] You're referring to how I healed the adra in the Strangleroot.
- Maybe it has something to do with my godlike nature.
- I also found an arrow in my guts.
Choosing the Intellect option will lead to Ambassador Hylgard to bring up your sudden death, and worries about the Dreamscourge reaching the city. He also brings up Inquisitor Lodwyn's opinion on the Dreamscourge being a distraction to something bigger. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Intellect 3] I assume those are the people responsible for my death.
- [Perception 3] And you're not?
- As she should be.
- Tell me about these rebels. Who are they?
- Is the Living Lnds worth all this trouble?
Choosing the Perception option will lead to Ambassador Hylgard showing his worries more about the plague than he does with the rebels in the city. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Intellect 3] They seem to have it out for us specifically. Do you know why?
- This doesn't speak well to your diplomacy, Ambassador.
- Why go after me? I just got here.
- Killing me was bold, I'll give them that.
- Such blatant disrespect cannot go unavenged.
Choosing the Intellect option will lead to Ambassador Hylgard mentioning that when The Steel Garrote got involved, people started to disagree more. He also mentions that Inquisitor Lodwyn wishes to have your murderer hung, Kai brings up Marius. A friend of his who is good with tracking down people. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Noble Scion] We've only just met. Now you want me to hire your friend?
- A tracker? Kai, we;re not hunting a deer.
- You've proven to be capable so far. What can he do that you can't?
- I'll consider him. Thanks for the recommendation.
Choosing the Noble Scion option will lead to Kai putting you in your place as an outsider to Paradis. Ambassador Hylgard suggests you hire as many allies you need to solve your murder. You will have the following dialogue options:
- [Noble Scion] I've hired assassins before, but I've never hunted one.
- Let's get on with it, then. My assassin could be anywhere by now.
- Kai, I need you by my side. Can I count on you?
- Wish me luck, Ambassador.
Choosing the Noble Scion option will lead to Ambassador Hylgard praising you and ending the conversation. After speaking to the Ambassador, head to his book of shelves behind him and pick up Aedyran Dialects, and the Letter to the Inquisitor, and make your way to find the Watcher.

The Watcher is located at The Rise, slightly northwest of the Watcher's Mirror. Follow the quest marker through the archway, straight ahead is the quest progression while turning into the right area has loot.

I want to help the Living Lands, even to the detriment of outsiders." to convince her to give you information. Elowe admits she is with the resistance, a group who defy the Aedyran's empire and protect their way of life. Once she has given you more information, you can ask her questions about the resistance.
