Pokopia received a free update (alongside its first expansion DLC: Bubbly Basin) that introduces the Dive ability to your many Ditto talents. With this, your Ditto will be able to explore underwater without having to resurface to breathe. This opens up the water areas of Bleak Beach and Withered Wasteland for you to swim through. It also allows you to find new water Pokemon and plants, and all you need to do to start is speak with Manaphy at Bleak Beach!

You can learn the Dive ability for free, even without the Expansion Pass.

How to Learn Dive in Pokopia

Step #1: Welcome Manaphy to Bleak Beach

When your game is updated and you open it for the first time, you'll get a notification that Professor Tangrowth has found something in Bleak Beach that they want to show you.

Travel to Bleak Beach and talk with Professor Tangrowth at the Pokemon Center, who reveals a small island that seems to have appeared and asks you to check it out. Using your Surf ability by pressing B when you are in the water, go to the island Northeast of the mainland.

Step #2: Feed Manaphy 5 Seaweed

Manaphy is lying on the sand here in need of food. Go to the Manaphy and press A to talk. They share that they were sleeping when the waves washed them up onto this island, and now they don't have any energy to do anything without food.

Step #3: Learn and Practice Dive by Gathering Treasure

After they eat, talk to them again, and they teach you Dive! Now you can breathe underwater and swim. There's an underwater cove in the middle of the island, and Manaphy tells you to go gather the treasure down there to practice diving. At the bottom of the cove, you find a Decorative Poke Ball.

How to Dive in Pokopia

Once you've learned the Dive ability, you will automatically apply a bubble over your head when you enter the water. To swim, you just have to hold the B button. While holding the B button to swim, use R to float up and L to sink down. When you're trying to build things or view things underwater, you can hold ZL to stay in place.

If you need to go to the very bottom of the water, spin your left joystick and you'll go down. If you don't use any of these buttons, you can also walk across the bottom of the water just like on land. If you enjoy swimming around and decide to get the Expansion Pass to see Bubbly Basin, make sure you have all the necessary tasks completed first!
