How to Make the Exercise Resting Spot Habitat in Pokopia
Befriend Hitmonchan!
In order to find Hitmonchan and learn the Rock Smash move, you'll need to create a safe habitat for it to live in. Hitmonchan likes to punch things, so obviously, a punching bag is perfect for them. Go ahead and pick up the punching bag in the area to the left of the Pokemon Center PC and place it near the wooden bench nearby. There's a high chance you'll be able to craft your own bench later on using a Crafting Table, but for now, this pre-placed one works just fine.
Once you plop the punching bag on the ground next to the bench, you will get a pop-up message stating that "you've restored an exercise resting spot habitat." And it turns out that Hitmonchan is the only Pokemon that lives in this habitat, so you don't have to worry about befriending other Pokemon using this method.
How to Learn Rock Smash in Pokopia
After making the habitat, you'll have to wait a couple of minutes before Hitmonchan actually appears. But once they do, you can speak to them to get a quick request, asking you to deliver two stones. These are all over the ground, so finding them should be super easy. Give them to Hitmonchan, and they will teach you Rock Smash, allowing you to break walls and other objects to "terraform" the world of Pokopia.
The first thing you can do once you learn Rock Smash is break the rocks towards the back wall that are leaking water. Smashing them will let the water flow freely, allowing you to try and create some new habitats. Maybe you can find some Water-type Pokemon now?
