It’s very easy to get Stardust in Pokopia, if you know where to look, and you’ll need 99 of them to craft a Star Piece. They are found in Dream Islands, which are special resource-farm locations which Drifloon takes you to. If you meet Drifloon in Withered Wasteland, create them a Pokopia habitat, and bring them a Doll, you're good to go. So, for everything you need to know about Stardust and Star Pieces in Pokopia, and what you use them for, this guide will help.

Pokopia Stardust: How to Get the Mysterious Resource

Stardust is found exclusively on Dream Islands. For all the details on those, check out our full Pokopia Dream Islands guide, but, in short, the Ghost/Flying Pokémon Drifloon takes you to them, and you can easily find them on the beach on the west coast of Withered Wasteland. You get to that by using the Rock Smash ability you learned from Hitmonchan early on, west of the area’s Pokémon Center. Then, you need to make them its associated habitat, Rising Warm Updrafts (Campfire x3).

Then, you need to give Drifloon a doll, of which there are seven types. Each type determines the type of Dream Island you go to, but the easiest one to find is an Eevee Doll on the way to the gate to Bleak Beach. You get here by smashing the fragile blocks to the east of the Pokémon Center. The Eevee Doll is in a glowing block immediately to the right of the wall you smash through: present this to Drifloon so you can go to the Wasteland Dream Island.

Don't miss any collectibles, gates, and golden Pokéballs in the opening area with our Withered Wasteland interactive map.

Once you’re at a Dream Island, Pokopia Stardust is pretty common, but it appears to be most concentrated on coastal and cave areas. You’re looking for a pale-pink splodge on the ground, but it should be pretty plentiful on Dream Islands. When you pick up your first one, you’ll automatically get the recipe for a Star Piece, and you’ll need 99 Stardust to craft each one.

What To Do With a Star Piece in Pokopia

To use a Star Piece, you need to be playing multiplayer in Pokopia, which means you’ll also need an active subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. To play online, you need to select the ‘Link Play’ option once you’ve booted up a Pokémon Center PC. From here, you can either invite a friend to your world, join theirs, or play on a Cloud Island together.

Once you’ve done all that, you have the option to give a Star Piece to a Pokémon that has been discovered by another player in their world. In return, that Pokémon will give you a gift.

Next, bring this gift back to your world and open it near a vacant habitat. If you do this, a Pokémon matching the species to the one you gave the Star Piece to will appear as befriended in your game. For example, if you gave the Star Piece to a Volbeat that came from another player’s world, you’ll get Volbeat when you open the gift in your world. Essentially, this is a great way of ensuring you discover all the Pokémon in Pokopia and 100% your Pokédex.
