Return to The Incognito
After being recovered by VALERIE and Niles, you will regain control of your character on the ship. There are several changes on the ship since you were floating around for 10 years. The door to your cabin will now be fixed, and you no longer need to go around the crawl space for access. From the main room, you can also open the previously locked door on the left side (when facing the console). This door will lead you through a pod room, and at the end, you can see an intricate system room.
Go around the back of this room and pick up the item to get Commander's Safe Key. This time, go inside the Commander's cabin located on the second floor. Look for the safe and open it using the key you found earlier. Opening the vault rewards +300 XP, and you can collect the following items: Tossball Card: Eva Wierzbicki, x318 Bit Cartridge, x2 Bypass Shunt, x2 Mag-Pick, x2 Numb Rum, x1 Ascendant Bourbon, and x1 Spectrum Vodka. Below the vault, you can also find a Crumpled List note item. Then, you can also interact with the computer to read communications to and from the Directorate during your absence.

From the Commander's Cabin, head inside the pantry area and you can find a locked cabinet here. Right now, it says that you need Lockpick 11 to open it, but you can actually bypass this. To start, look for the Workbench in the same room. Jump over the stack of crates on the corner and look for a hidden lever on the wall. Interact with it to disable the power to get the Rookie's Reward from the locked cabinet.

When you're ready, proceed to the cockpit to speak with Niles and progress the quest. Niles will mistake you for VALERIE and will talk casually while facing the rift. You have the following options to respond:
- Niles?
- Admiring the rift there, agent?
- De Vries was a traitor, and she'll get what's coming to her.
As soon as Niles faces you for a proper conversation, the wounds of his injury become visible. There are burns on the right side of his face, but his personality remains the same. You have the following options to respond:
- Seems I'm stuck experiencing the miracle of human consciousness for a bit longer.
- This is definitely the better outcome, agree.
- I heard what you said earlier. Has it really been ten years since Horizon Point?
Choosing the second option will have Niles recall how he searched for the Commander as soon as he learned about the escape pods that made it away. Your next choice will be remembered, and you have the following options:
- Don't beat yourself up about it. I'm sure you did the best you could.
- You didn't search hard enough. Clearly.
- What's done is done. We should focus on what comes next.
Choosing the first one will prompt him to say that you're giving him grace more than he deserves, but he will still say thank you. VALERIE will also join the conversation about how she shared the rundown of recent events, prompting the discussion of stopping de Vries. You will have the following options to respond:
- Agreed. We can't let her actions go unanswered.
- Fine by me. I've got a bullet I'm saving just for her.
- This is a lot. I just want to move on, keep my head down, forget any of this happened.
Choosing the first option here will earn a positive remark from Niles, and he will tell you that she was inserted at the Vox Relay Station on Paradise Island. He wants to search the place for any clues to present plans and whereabouts:
- And we'll be one Step closer to making her pay for what she did.
- Sounds like you've already done some legwork. Good job, agent.
- [Requires Flaw: Consumerism] What if she took all the safes with her when she left?
- I guess there are worse places to be stuck investigating than an island called Paradise.
- Beats standing around having my ear talked off.

When you choose the special dialogue, in our playthrough, it was Consumerism. This choice will be remembered by Niles, and he will bring up the side effects from hibernation and how long they are supposed to last, raising suspicions. After that, he will further share info about the best plan, and the quest objective will be updated to Land on Paradise Island.

After talking to Niles, interact with the Navigation Terminal on the right side of the cockpit to prompt the travel to Eden, Paradise Island. Before you disembark, go to the area below the cockpit where you can find VALERIE. You will receive a report about the lockboxes that are tucked in the ship's dispenser. You will have the following options to tackle this:
- Good call on his part. And much appreciated.
- Pfft. Sounds like an excuse to me.
- [Lockpick] Give me two seconds with that lockbox, and I'm sure I can have it open.
Choosing the 3rd option will prompt VALERIE to inform you that tampering may result in damage to the container's contents, and only the designated keys can open it. For now, you will receive an Advanced Decryption Key, which you can use to get an Auntie's Acidic Dematerializer. After opening it, the next lockbox will appear, which contains an upgrade kit for the VALERIE. This also unlocks the companion quest, A Healthy Improvement for VALERIE. When you're done, proceed to the quest marker and interact with it to prompt the disembarkation and Companion selection screen.

Once you arrive at Paradise Island, the quest Recalling the Score will be marked as completed, and the next quest, The Saboteur of Paradise, will start immediately.
