Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 was held earlier this week, delivering the latest news and announcements. If you’re a Nintendo Switch 2 fan, there were actually quite a number of games shown off here for you.
The Witcher 3 Remastered, Worms: Galactic Tactics, Acornia: Mirror Worlds, Age Twisters, 1001 Threads of Mizan, and LEGO Skylines were announced. There were also updates on Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, Mega Man: Dual Override, and more.

Sonic Team head talks possibility of Sonic Mania 2

There’s no sign of Sonic Mania 2 happening anytime soon, but Sonic Team head Takazhi Iizuka has left the door open to the possibility.
Believe it or not, Sonic Mania is coming close to its tenth anniversary. The title launched in 2017 and many fans had hoped that we’d get a sequel. Sonic Mania was definitely a success for SEGA, but the company has not pursued a follow-up.

Capcom explains why Mega Man: Dual Override isn’t called Mega Man 12

Capcom has spoken about the title behind Mega Man: Dual Override, including the reason why it won’t be called Mega Man 12.
All of the mainline entries in the core series have had a number. Prior to this project, Capcom shipped Mega Man 11. We were interested to find out why the tradition wasn’t carried forward.

The next Splatoon game needs to make this big change

With Splatoon Raiders having recently released on Nintendo Switch 2, it’s safe to say that we likely aren’t seeing Splatoon 4 anytime soon. Even so, Splatoon 3 has plenty of content to offer in the meantime – and it’s generally the best-received entry in the series to date.
With that being said, it’s still got one major problem: its Splatfests. To tie into the whole “3” theme, Splatoon 3’s events all revolved around selecting one of three different teams. However, this wound up creating more of an imbalance than a competent gimmick – here’s how we would fix that in Splatoon 4.

With GameShare becoming an important part of Nintendo Switch 2, we’ve put together a complete list of games that support the feature. We’ll be updating this post over time as well.
GameShare is brand new for Nintendo Switch 2. With the feature, select titles allow you to play with others even if they don’t own a copy of the game. Even more interesting, you can share games locally with those that have the original Nintendo Switch. It’s possible to link up with up to three other systems at a time. We’ll also mention that GameShare supports online play with other Nintendo Switch 2 systems.

During a live stream event today, CD Projekt Red detailed the frame rate and resolution for The Witcher 3 Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 and commented on other aspects like a physical release teased, mouse controls, and mods.
The game is said to run at 720p in handheld mode while 1080p is the target when docked. For frame rate, it’s 30 to 40 FPS in handheld mode with VRR. When playing docked, 30-40 FPS is supported, with closer to 40 with a 120hz-compatible television.

Following its announcement earlier this week, the first gameplay for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 has been revealed.
Screenshots were previously shared a couple of days ago. Those images alone suggested that CD Projekt Red was churning out a pretty great port, but now we actually get to see it in action.

For those looking for a complete list of all games included and supported in Nintendo Music, that’s where this post comes in.
Nintendo Music only came with a few songs at launch. However, since then, a few more have been added. Nintendo has also indicated that additional music is coming in the future. Currently it seems that we can expect at least one new title to be brought to the service each week.

Nintendo started up a new sale on the eShop today which is bringing lots of discounts for both Switch 2 and Switch.
Rather than focusing on its own games, Nintendo decided to emphasize third-party titles. Games like Marvel Cosmic Invasion and Darwin’s Paradox are now at new low prices. Discounts are available for up to 80 percent off.

New content awaits Scott Pilgrim EX players as the game just received “Back in the Band” DLC and a free “Coin-Op Chaos” update. Both are available on Nintendo Switch today.
Back in the Band is highlighted by new characters Stephen Stills, Kim Pine, and Knives Chau as playable fighters. The score-chasing Arcade Mode for up to four players headlines the free update.
