Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 was held earlier this week, delivering the latest news and announcements. If you’re a Nintendo Switch 2 fan, there were actually quite a number of games shown off here for you.
The Witcher 3 Remastered, Worms: Galactic Tactics, Acornia: Mirror Worlds, Age Twisters, 1001 Threads of Mizan, and LEGO Skylines were announced. There were also updates on Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, Mega Man: Dual Override, and more.

There’s no sign of Sonic Mania 2 happening anytime soon, but Sonic Team head Takazhi Iizuka has left the door open to the possibility.
Believe it or not, Sonic Mania is coming close to its tenth anniversary. The title launched in 2017 and many fans had hoped that we’d get a sequel. Sonic Mania was definitely a success for SEGA, but the company has not pursued a follow-up.
We have a first look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Crew Motorfest, along with a comparison to the PC version which shows that Ubisoft looks to be coming out with a pretty respectable port.
The Crew Motorfest was casually announced for Nintendo’s console a little while back. There was little fanfare behind it though – Ubisoft didn’t bother putting out a trailer and we actually never even received a press release announcing this new version.
Mega Man series producer Shingo Izumi has expressed interest in making a new Mega Man X game.
Right now, Capcom’s current focus is Mega Man: Dual Override. That said, Izumi also recently spoke about wanting to revisit Mega Man X.
Capcom has spoken about the title behind Mega Man: Dual Override, including the reason why it won’t be called Mega Man 12.
All of the mainline entries in the core series have had a number. Prior to this project, Capcom shipped Mega Man 11. We were interested to find out why the tradition wasn’t carried forward.
The latest Nintendo Switch eShop charts for the week of August 29, 2026 are now available.
Nintendo Switch releases have been slowing down, but we did see Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on the console this week. It debuts at #21, though on the download-only chart, it’s at #7. We’ll see if it moves up at all over the next week.
Otherwise the top titles remain the same. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream again takes the top spot, which is status quo.

A new Bandai Namco publisher sale is live on the Nintendo eShop, with various Switch 2 and Switch games discounted such as Ace Combat 7 and Tales of Arise.
These titles are at new low prices. However, they’re far from the only games on sale. Dragon Ball, Digimon, Pac-Man, and many other titles / franchises are represented.

With Splatoon Raiders having recently released on Nintendo Switch 2, it’s safe to say that we likely aren’t seeing Splatoon 4 anytime soon. Even so, Splatoon 3 has plenty of content to offer in the meantime – and it’s generally the best-received entry in the series to date.
With that being said, it’s still got one major problem: its Splatfests. To tie into the whole “3” theme, Splatoon 3’s events all revolved around selecting one of three different teams. However, this wound up creating more of an imbalance than a competent gimmick – here’s how we would fix that in Splatoon 4.
