I have started to dream of the Horadrim. Last night, they came to me, bellies ripped, bones broken.

Diablo 4 Mephisto's Huntsman Boss Guide

Mephisto's Huntsman Diablo 4 Fight Strategy

Following the path to Lorath, you will come across the corrupted huntsman that Mephisto sent to track down Lorath. This boss will be mounted on a basilisk, which moves quickly and can chase down fleeing enemies without breaking a sweat. There is also a unique modifier with this boss where you cannot stagger it due to its Unstoppable trait. Given its fast movement and being partly immune to disabling techniques, it is recommended to use its haste movements against it, and rely on a defensive approach in combat, and launch effective counterattack measures.

At the start of the battle, this boss will use its Summon Tormented Stingers skill and will attempt to overwhelm you early with a bunch of its minions and its Basilisk Charge. It is recommended to eliminate the underlings first, as they can tend to obstruct your way to Mephisto's Huntsman by interrupting your attacks and blocking your path. You can try the technique of killing them one at a time so that you won't take in too much damage while fighting all of them at once.

After eliminating the Tormented Stingers, you can now focus on dealing damage to Mephisto's Huntsman. A technique that you can do is dash backwards at a far distance from his current location, so that you can bait him into doing the Basilisk Charge. Study its movement animation and timing. Your objective is to bait him in, dodge the attack, and then dash behind him to perform a counterattack. This will help you in using the fast speed of Mephisto's Huntsman against him, and safely dodge attacks while creating a window of opportunity for an effective backstab strike.

You will also need to be careful with its special attack, the Infernal Eye. The attack animation of this offensive move is too swift, but knowing the timing of this attack can help you dodge it. What we have noticed is that he typically takes about three seconds to channel this attack, and you will see it through the three Infernal Eyes that he conjured, which will be rotating around him, seemingly not doing any harm. If you were able to time it from the moment it was cast, you can try to jump away from your current location on the three-second mark to dodge it. In most cases, it works, but expect that timing could be difficult. There is no harm in trying, though.

Keep in mind that this boss cannot be staggered, so your only way of inflicting damage to it effectively is through proper positioning of counterattacks. Maintaining a defensive combat approach and relying on damage performed through your backstab strike strategy should help you eliminate this boss, acquire the quest item that you need, the Sweat-Stained Journal, and find Lorath.

Mephisto's Huntsman Boss Attacks & Counters

Basilisk Charge

The huntsman's steadfast mount charges with haste to its targeted enemy, inflicting damage with a chance of knocking down the opponent hit. It is recommended to dodge this attack by doing a sidestep in any direction before the collision. Afterward, dash behind him and perform a backstab strike to inflict damage.

Summon Tormented Stingers

Approaching the enemy, Mephisto's Huntsman summons three Tormented Stingers to aid him in battle. These lesser creatures will charge and attack you relentlessly and can cause you to drain your HP quickly. We recommend that you eliminate them quickly by doing an AoE attack, and if you can distance yourself from them while dealing damage, that would help. Alternatively, use your HP potions wisely while killing them in melee combat.

Infernal Eye

A special attack of Mephisto's Huntsman which summons three Infernal Eyes rotating around him, and after about three seconds, it strikes the targeted enemy at the same time to deal massive damage. This attack can be dodged. We noticed that the collision path leads to the location where you are marked within the three-second channeling of this attack. You can try to escape from where you were standing after the three-second mark by doing a dash backwards. A successful evasion will make this attack hit the ground where you were standing. You can dash behind Mephisto's Huntsman afterward and launch a backstab strike.
