Diablo 4 Elias Strategy Writeup
In the first phase, After a short cutscene with Elias, both you and Lorath engage Elias. What he does here is that he sends homing projectiles that cause some damage to you. But he is still pretty weak at this point. Slay Elias and keep going.
Phase two begins when you encounter him again. Here he summons a large demon called Champion of Lilith. He continues to launch homing projectiles at you but also has another attack. A notable attack Elias does is when he raises his arm to release small balls of blood to explode on impact. Where they land is clearly telegraphed in red markings, so players will have to look out for these and dodge them accordingly. Slay Elias and keep going.
Phase three begins when you encounter him once again. Here he summons a Champion of Lilith again and continues his attacks from the last two phases but performed more often. A new attack he has here is that he creates summoning pools to summon servants to attack you. While Elias performs this, he will be immune until the servants have been defeated. All while battling this demon and the servants, Elias will still attack you. Slay Elias and keep going.
Phase four begins when you encounter him the last time. He does all the same attacks as the past few phases but he is stronger now. Slay Elias and speak to Lorath.
Once Elias has been defeated, players will be rewarded with Gold.

Who is Elias in Diablo 4?
Elias, also known as The Pale Man, is one of the primary antagonists in Diablo 4 and one of the central figures behind Lilith's return to Sanctuary. A former member of the Horadrim and apprentice of Lorath Nahr, Elias abandoned the Horadrim and devoted himself to Lilith's vision for humanity. He eventually became Lilith's most loyal servant and played a major role in orchestrating her resurrection.
Unlike many Diablo antagonists driven purely by destruction or demonic corruption, Elias believed humanity needed to evolve through suffering and conflict in order to survive the coming war against the Prime Evils and the High Heavens. This ideology closely aligned him with Lilith's goals throughout the main campaign.
Elias Immortality Explained
One of the most important plot points surrounding Elias is his immortality. During the campaign, the Wanderer repeatedly defeats Elias only for him to return again later. Eventually, the Horadrim discover that Elias hid his life essence inside a severed finger concealed within a hidden temple connected to Rathma.
After locating and destroying the finger, Elias finally loses his immortality and becomes vulnerable. This ultimately leads to his permanent defeat near the end of Diablo 4's main campaign. The Tree of Whispers later claims Elias' head as payment for a previous bargain he made with the tree.
Elias and Lilith's Plan
Elias serves as Lilith's primary agent throughout much of Diablo 4's campaign. He is directly responsible for summoning Lilith into Sanctuary and repeatedly works behind the scenes to further her plans. Throughout the story, Elias manipulates cults, corrupts regions of Sanctuary, and orchestrates several major events tied to the Triune and the Lesser Evils.
One of Elias' most important actions involves using Taissa as a vessel to summon Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish. He also repeatedly escapes death due to his hidden immortality ritual, becoming one of the campaign's most persistent threats.
Elias and the Horadrim
Elias' history as a former Horadrim is one of the reasons he remains such an important figure within Diablo 4's story. His fall from the Horadrim mirrors many of the game's themes involving corruption, desperation, and humanity's struggle against both Heaven and Hell.
His relationship with Lorath is particularly important, as Elias was once one of Lorath's closest apprentices before ultimately betraying the order. This personal connection helps make Elias one of the most significant narrative antagonists in Diablo 4 rather than simply another demonic servant hellbent on destruction.
