my way (had no heal banes + play solo on honour):
      1. lure to the forge
      2. arrow of roaring thunder to knock him down the ledge to the lower forge
      3. shot the button to lower the forge
      4. lured him to the center
      5. killed the same way as the boss, with a forge hammer

I believe the Magnetic Regeneration effect is much greater than 10d6. When I fought it it was regenerating up to 75 hp a round. Perhaps 20d6?

Easy Mode: Use Bone Chill cantrip or Illmater arrows every round to forbid regen and shoot it to death from afar. Any slow effects seals the deal.
Normal Mode: Kite it towards the Forge platform and then use knockback effects to make it fall below the platform, killing it with fall damage.
Hard Mode: Lure it to one of the elevated stone areas with staircases and overcome its healing with raw burst/attrition damage output.
Impossible Mode: Fight it amid the lava floods and lave explosions with just your fists until your doom.

Leaping down as an owlbear from up high can also crush the elemental for about half his health. Might not need to prevent regen with this approach. I didn't.

can pull it to the ledge of the forge it wont jump across.... have gale bone chill each round and range it down was pretty easy

Just stood on the edge near the firepit went into sneak mode and turn-based as he came near and used Gale and Ray of Frost. Got three hits in before he could do anything. Ez Pz.

Since people are sharing tactics: I killed it by luring it to the Forge platform, where my entire party stood (turns out the elemental either can't jump, or we were just body-blocking it by standing near the edge), and uses a Thorn Whip to pull the Elemental to me. It faceplanted on the bottom of the forge (still had some HP, but a few shots from a bow killed it).

Eldritch Blast with Repulsive Blast invocation also works - it tosses the Elemental around, so you can push it off the edge that way.

The Lava Elemental is suppose to lose it\s Regeneration ability when Out of the Lava, yea?
Seems Patch 9 Completely botched it, cause i am across the gap standing on the Forge, so WAY out of the lava, and yet he still regens every turn.
Either this is a serious f*n bug, or Larian is expecting all their players to make the most broken builds in DnD history to beat it.
Seen some of you Fighter psychos out there hitting for 50-100+ a turn.
