Nestled within the Izumi Settsu province, the Hideout in Assassin’s Creed Shadows serves as a fully customizable home base for Naoe and Yasuke. Surrounded by steep hills and accessible only through a narrow path, this secluded valley is the heart of your operations, offering gameplay benefits, customization options, and a growing community of allies.
Early in the story, players will be introduced to Miss Tomiko, the caretaker of this hidden refuge. With her guidance, Naoe and Yasuke will gather resources, expand the Hideout, and build a stronghold worthy of the Brotherhood.
Building & Customization
Customizing the Hideout
The Hideout is entirely customizable, allowing players to construct buildings, place decorations, and shape the environment to their liking.
- Players can modify the landscape, adding paths, trees, ponds, fences, and other decorative elements.
- New buildings and upgrades provide practical benefits, such as increasing resource collection, unlocking gear upgrades, and training allies.
- Customization elements are acquired through quests, contracts, enemy loot, and merchants across Japan.
- The Hideout evolves over time, with new opportunities unlocking as players progress through the story.
Gathering Resources
Upgrading and expanding the Hideout requires four key resources:
- Wood – Used for constructing and reinforcing buildings.
- Crops – Necessary for housing insulation and specific upgrades.
- Minerals – Essential for structural integrity and high-quality construction.
- Mon (currency) – Needed to purchase materials and fund improvements.
Resource Smuggling
While small amounts of wood, crops, and minerals can be found throughout Japan, the best way to gather large amounts is by securing resource stockpiles in enemy camps.
- Scouts can be sent to smuggle stockpiles, ensuring a steady supply of resources.
- Stockpiles take time to be smuggled, with resources arriving at the end of each season.
- Upgrading the Stables reduces the number of Scouts needed and increases the resources gained per season.
Upgradeable Rooms & Benefits
Tomiko’s house is the centerpiece of the Hideout, serving as a gathering area for allies. It provides quick access to essential Hideout functions but cannot be moved or removed. Various rooms within the Hideout serve unique purposes, supporting both Naoe and Yasuke’s progression. Some rooms are pre-built, while others must be constructed and upgraded over time using the aforementioned resources.
Stables
Upgrading the Stables improves resource smuggling efficiency and reduces the number of Scouts needed.
- Level 1 – Stockpiles require 2 Scouts to tag, delivering resources at season’s end.
- Level 2 – Stockpiles require only 1 Scout.
- Level 3 – 20% more resources are smuggled from each stockpile.
Kakurega
Kakurega safehouses serve as fast travel points and hubs for acquiring intel and contracts.
- Level 1 – Unlocks one Scout. Kakurega safehouses grant fast travel, seasonal contracts, and supply caches.
- Level 2 – Provincial rumors reveal the locations of collectibles, unique treasures, and enemy targets. Scouts can clear Regional Alerts.
- Level 3 – More Kakurega locations become available, and unlock costs are 30% cheaper.
Study
The Study improves quest tracking and expands Scout capacity, making objective gathering more efficient.
- Level 1 – Gain one additional Scout. Reduce search zones by 25%.
- Level 2 – Gain another additional Scout.
- Level 3 – Gain one more additional Scout. Reduce search zones by 60%.
Forge
The Forge allows players to upgrade and customize weapons and armor to stay competitive in battle.
- Level 1 – Weapons and armor can be upgraded to level 20 and dismantled for materials.
- Level 2 – Weapons and armor can be upgraded to level 40, and non-Legendary engravings can be applied.
- Level 3 – Weapons and armor can be upgraded to level 60, with Legendary engravings unlocked.
Dojo
The Dojo allows players to train and improve allies, making them more effective in combat.
- Level 1 – Allies can be trained up to Initiate rank.
- Level 2 – Two allies can now assist in combat instead of one.
- Level 3 – Allies can be trained up to Veteran rank, improving their strength.
Themed Rooms & Their Benefits
In addition to essential buildings, players can construct specialized rooms that enhance character stats or offer unique bonuses.
- Tera (Altar) – Boosts XP gain by 10%.
- Jinja (Shinto Shrine) – Enhances boons gained from prayer shrines.
- Nando (Barracks) – Reduces Scout recall costs, helping to manage resources efficiently.
- Zashiki (Sake Room) – Increases ration healing, improving survivability.
- Tea Room – Further enhances ration healing, stacking with the Zashiki bonus.
- Gallery – Displays armor sets and weapons, allowing for customizable loadouts.
Customization & Aesthetic Enhancements
Customization is a major feature of the Hideout, allowing players to shape its layout, interior, and decorations.
- Buildings can be repositioned, enabling creative layouts and pathways.
- Rooms can be connected, forming courtyards, pathways, or large structures.
- Players can decorate interiors, choosing wall types, floors, and displayed items.

Allies & Daily Life in the Hideout
As Naoe and Yasuke progress, the Hideout will become populated with allies, scouts, blacksmiths, and warriors. These NPCs contribute to the league, offering missions, crafting services, and training opportunities.
