Mining minerals in Subnautica 2 is one of the main objectives and components of the survival game, as ingredients such as gold and sulfur become useful early on, but it’s minerals like Celestine and Atacamite that are very good for late-game crafting recipes.

These are minerals found in the later stages of the Early Access version of Subnautica 2, focusing on story-related crafts along with a very specific tool that will help you obtain minerals without much hassle. With that said, Atacamite isn’t exactly the most plentiful of minerals as it’s located in specific locations on the map. Thankfully, with this guide, youll know exactly where to look.

What is Atacamite?

Subnautica 2 Atacamite Mineral

Atacamite is one of the few endgame minerals found within Unknown Worlds’ Subnautica 2. This is a very important mineral. While nothing is used with it in the early stages of the campaign, the further you get, they will begin to pop up.

This is primarily because Atacamite is one of the few components used in creating Mangalloy Ingots from the Processor. This Ingot has two very important purposes: creating Metal Farms and contributing to fixing the Power Plant.

Both of these are equally important, as the Power Plant maintenance ensures that you can finish the (current) Early Access story of Subnautica 2, whereas the Metal Farm is the late game Cultivation tool that allows you to harvest minerals without a need to go out and look for them.

Because of this, Atacamite becomes a very useful resource, even though you likely won’t need more than fifteen at the current time.

Where to Find Atacamite

Like many of the endgame minerals, Atacamite can be found very late in the campaign. Once you begin to harvest materials such as Conduit Catalysts, Celestine and Creature Enamel, you’ll be getting close to finding Atacamite.

The main location you’ll be able to find Atacamite is right when you begin to enter the Power Plant section. When you get past the Observatory, you’ll be hit with a large drop next to the abandoned and destroyed research facility.

When you head down around 300+ meters to the floor, you’ll begin to spot really strange looking dark green minerals spread across the ground. They’re not as popular as Quartz, but they’re definitely spread around the area.

On top of that, the closer you get to the Angel Comb, the more you’ll see them. They are also spread around the Angel Comb, making it a nice little farming spot when getting through the main story.

Finally, Atacamite can be found in the Metal Farms and just outside the area. These are far less plentiful than the other locations mentioned, but if you’re already that far in, there are a couple spots you’ll be able to farm.
