There are many things that Subnautica 2 does very well, but the core design of the game can be summarized as, collect, craft and survive. Throughout your lengthy journey in this (current) Early Access survival game, you will be swimming through seemingly endless terrains and come across some exciting, but disturbing finds.
With that said, to ensure you can progress the story, you will need to interact with the base building and Fabrication aspects of the game. You won’t be able to simply swim all the way to the east and complete the game, as there are several tools needed to help you along the way. One material that contributes to the middle and end game is Conduit Crystals. This mineral isn’t easy to find, but we know exactly where to look.
Where to Find Conduit Crystals
The big question is, where exactly can you find this elusive material. It’s nowhere to be found in the first areas around the Lifepod, but instead is across the pod, past the Observatory and into the Power Plant area.
This area is where you’ll find the massive three-legged alien structure under and even partially above water. All over the Power Plant area, you’ll find the Conduit Crystals.
These are generally scattered at around the depth of 350 meters, meaning you will need the Depth Module upgrade for the Tadpole to reach, and around 370 meters southeast of the Alien Structure.
They are placed on the edges of smaller cliffs and platforms attached to the rocky walls and structures surrounding the Angel Comb. It’s not necessary near the center of the area, but spread out around it, generally around 100–200 meters away.
Alternatively, if you’re desperate for the Conduit Crystals and are still in the first area but don’t want to go to pass by the Collector Leviathan, there are a couple of spots down below the giant beast between the Graveyard and Observatory.
With that said, these are incredibly rare as the materials down here are very few and varied through most of the different minerals. For example, we found a couple of Conduit Crystals directly below the Graveyard, down the massive cliff at the bottom, which is around 765 meters away from the Lifepod, and 250 meters from the surface.
What are Conduit Crystals Used For?
The Conduit Crystals are some of the best materials to collect, primarily because they are used in various advanced crafts. There are many endgame recipes that utilize this Conduit Crystal, some of which are required to complete the game.
For starters, this is used in Improved Fins, allowing you to go a little faster when swimming around. That’s actually the least interesting blueprint that uses Conduit Crystals, though.
There are more energy resource recipes, such as Advanced Batteries and Entanged Power Cells. The former allows you to slap them in a tool, so they last longer, while the latter is for your Tadpole and get a longer trip out in the vast ocean.
Finally, in the Modification Station, you’ll need Conduit Crystals in order to enhance both your scanner and Sonic Resonator. By using three Conduit Crystals, along with the Scanner and two Enameled Glass, you’re able to craft a Bioscanner. This is required to unlock more Biomods from the Welcome Center.
Last, but certainly not least, as it’s something you’ll want to get as fast as possible when you hit the Power Plant section of the map, Conduit Crystals are used in the Feedback Resonator design. This upgrade allows you to shoot the flora infecting the Angel Comb in the Power Plant section, allowing you to obtain the Adaptation to read the alien language.
