If there’s one thing Subnautica 2 does exceptionally well, it’s establishing a large variety of items to collect. This is something its predecessors also did, littering the oceanic world with a slew of different materials, and because of it, there was a lot of experimentation when it came to base building and exploration.

With the sequel, we are tasked with finding Celestine, a relatively rare metal early on, but it becomes somewhat more plentiful as you progress through the story. From the middle of the massive world until the very end, Celestine can be found, but where exactly can be tricky. Thankfully, with this guide, we will show you exactly where you will need to go to maximize your Celestine output.

Where to Find Celestine

Celestine can be found in two key locations in Subnautica 2, although it’s prominent throughout the second half of the Early Access campaign.

Surprisingly enough, you will be able to get Celestine before the Observatory section of the map. It is located at the bottom of the area between the Graveyard and Observatory, down below the Collector Leviathan.

Immediately after the Graveyard, you will see a sharp vertical plunge from a cliff. Follow this down to a bright blue area where you’ll be able to find Celestine. With that said, this is far from the best place to collect Celestine. This is because it’s not super plentiful here, and you do always have an aggressive roaming monster above you. This is roughly 850 meters away from the Lifepod and 260 meters deep.

Because of this, the next best area is between the Observatory and Power Plant regions. This is located roughly 1,400 meters away from your Lifepod and 280 meters below the surface. Celestine will be growing on the side of the various large rock formations, along with various other minerals.

This is more plentiful than in-between The Graveyard and The Observatory, but it’s still not the best place to farm. Instead, this is simply in Root Canyon. Celestine is spread all through the bottom of this area. This is located around 400 meters deep and over 2,000 meters from the Lifepod almost directly east.

You’ll be able to find a lot in a very lit up area with numerous other minerals and a Feedback Resonator on the ground. It’s also right next to the metal farm to the north.

What Celestine is Used For

Subnautica 2 Enamel 03

Similar to a mineral such as Creature Enamel, Celestine is very commonly used in late-game crafts. Not only does it allow you to create a Modification Station, something that is mandatory to progress the story with the Feedback Resonator, but it is also used in the Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1.

This is probably the best module you can craft in the game, allowing your Tadpole to go from 250 meters to 450 meters down. If you’re an explorer, it’s a huge quality of life improvement that’s needed as soon as possible.

On top of that, it is also used in an Axum Wall Lamp, but more importantly, Strontium. This is an ingot only obtained through Processing two Celestine and is used in crafting the Feedback Resonator, the more advanced Tadpole Haul Chassis, along with the Strike Armor and Cavitation Muffler modules for the Tadpole.

Celestine is arguably one of the most important minerals you should be collecting, and thankfully, you’ll be able to get it relatively early on if you go looking in the right spots, ensuring exploration is faster and more fun.
