Tug
A cleaned variant of the Tug was cut from the final release of Grand Theft Auto IV.
Description
[edit | edit source]A cleaned Tug model was found in the Grand Theft Auto IV March 2026 development build leak,[1] complete with all data required for the vehicle to function in-game.[2][3]
The cleaned Tug was intended to be the base model of the Tug, with the rusted Tug being a variant of the cleaned Tug[a], however it was cut for unknown reasons, leaving the rusted Tug as the only, and therefore base, variant. In the final release of Grand Theft Auto IV, only the text label and audio object remain in the files.[4][5]
A cleaned static prop Tug can be seen at the dry dock in Port Tudor in the final release, which reuses a portion of the cleaned Tug's texture for its hull.[6] It features a red superstructure, an even cleaner deck, and lacks both the radar mast and the mainmast.
Design
[edit | edit source]As a clean variant of the rusted Tug, it is lacking the heavy rust on the hull. It is, otherwise, an identical model. The lack of the heavy rust reveals a navy blue hull and reddish-brown superstructure. Like the rusted Tug, the body color is baked into the vehicle's textures and will permanently remain the same regardless of the colors set in the carcols file or by script.
Performance
[edit | edit source]The cleaned Tug shares its handling with the rusted Tug, possessing identically large weight, heavy control, and very poor stopping power.

[edit | edit source]Locations
[edit | edit source]- The cleaned Tug was intended to have several unique spawn locations.
- Anchored near various barges in Humboldt River, on the Algonquin side.
- In front of a long barge to the north-west of Colony Island, Algonquin.[7]
- In front of a long barge towing a short barge to the west of a large barge west of Charge Island, Dukes.[7]
- In front of a single barge just north of the East Borough Bridge, Algonquin.[7]
- At the south side of the two barges to the south-east of Colony Island, Algonquin.[8]
- In front of the two barges in between the Skycar station in Lancet and Colony Island, Algonquin.[9]
- Anchored in front of the middle, single barge, in between the Purgatory Parking Garage and the Westminster Helipad, Algonquin.[10]
- Docked at the Gantry Park in Dukes.[11]
- Anchored near various barges in Humboldt River, on the Algonquin side.
- Would have spawned in waters around the city if the player was already piloting one.
