Floater
The Floater is a motorboat appearing in The Ballad of Gay Tony.
Design
[edit | edit source]The Floater slightly resembles the Four Winns 310 Horizon Sport Boat, with design cues from the Bayliner VR5.
The Floater is one of the smallest boats available in the game, comparable to the Tropic in that aspect. The hull has a relatively basic shape with a curvature on the stern area, while the top deck of the bow is flat in shape and lacks any decoration. The cabin area makes use of silver/chrome trim at the base and a small windscreen on the front, while the interior is mostly finished in white leather and features two traditional front seats and a rear bench seat. On the stern area, there are small silver/chrome intakes on either side and the transom is mostly covered by the same white leather finish, while the rear end has a large swim step and circular exhausts/vents.
The boat spawns in a variety of two-tone colors, where the primary one is applied to the outer portions of the hull, the top deck of the bow and most of the cabin area, while the secondary one is applied to the hull, part of the gunwales, and in the form of a stripe spanning most of the cabin area and the swim step.
Performance
[edit | edit source]The Floater's performance is relatively good. Its speed is better than other speed boats such as the Blade and so is the acceleration. Its steering is good, plus the braking. However, acceleration leaves much to be desired, likely due to its small engines.
The Floater is powered by twin inboard engines with Z-drive propellers. It appears to have a similar engine sound to the PCJ 600 and the Vader, along with the traditional sound found on other speedboats, barely heard on higher revolutions.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- The name Floater is probably a reference to the term "floater", which means a floating piece of fecal matter, or a dead body floating in water.
