Is there a better combination than a V8 coupe? You're compromising with both - the V8 engine is less efficient than an equivalent V6, and the sloping roofline means there's less space in the back. But two wrongs make a right in this case; these cars not only provide the passion of an eight-cylinder soundtrack, but also the sleek design that comes with a two-door body.

With mounting legislation, some automakers have reduced their lineup, like BMW cutting the M8 Coupe, while others are downsizing their engines or fitting clever turbos and hybrid systems to their six- and four-cylinder engines to make them just as fast as a V8. But there's just something about saying you own a V8 that's addictive. In 2026, the market has gotten smaller for the best V8 coupes, but there's still a rich selection. Here are our favorites.

Vehicles are assigned a BuzzScore in relation to their direct segment competitors, and as such, vehicles in this list, while similarly scored, do not necessarily compete directly against one another. "If the Corvette [Stingray] is a sports car and not a supercar, it's the best sports car on the market right now by the metrics of speed, grip, and handling for the money."

- Ian Wright, Senior Road Tester, CarBuzz

Without eight cylinders, could this car really be called a Corvette? The Stingray and Z06 are both rated the highest in terms of BuzzSciore for V8 coupes. The Stingray is the basic model, using a 535-horsepower 6.7L V8, while the Z06 makes an even more impressive 670 horsepower. Both are naturally aspirated, but the Z06 uses more aero and track-focused features, such as an available carbon wing and carbon ceramic discs. Were you surprised that these V8 coupes are on the list?

"Lexus's 5.0-liter V8 is simply superb. It's relentlessly fast in a straight line, then cruises at any speed you like with a complete lack of effort."

- Ian Weright, Senior Road Tester, CarBuzz

You might think the US and Germany are the leaders when it comes to V8s, but Japan has been quietly building some of the most legendary eight-cylinder engines ever. Lexus's 5.0L V8 in the LC 500 may be bowing out, but it's become a favorite at CarBuzz thanks to its effortless 471 horsepower and dual-personality. It can be engaged on the back roads thanks to a throaty soundtrack or a quiet highway cruiser when you need it to be.

Yes, it may have four doors, but Mercedes still counts this GT 63 S E Performance as a coupe model. It's a seriously impressive F1-inspired V8-powered vehicle that uses both a 577-hp 4.0L twin-turbo engine and a powerful electric motor. Working together, they make 831 horsepower and a massive 1,000 lb-ft of torque. 060 mph is possible in under three seconds, and the four-door shape means it's more practical than you might think. It does command a price of over $200k, though...

"Remember the plot of The Fast and the Furious where Brian owes Dominic a 10-second car? If that movie took place today, he could walk into a Chevy dealer with a check and leave with a nine-second car. What a world we live in."

- Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-At-Large, CarBuzz

The ZR1 and ZR1X designations of the Chevy Corvette get dangerously close to Chevrolet making a hypercar. The V8 engine is boosted with twin-turbos in the ZR1 to make over 1,000 horsepower going through the rear wheels only, while the ZR1X adds the E-Ray's front electric motor to push 1,250 horses through all four wheels. You'll never be short of power in the ZR1, but the ZR1X is another animal, going from 0–60 miles per hour in under two seconds.

"There isn't a finer two-door luxury coupe on the market, and there may not be a superior vehicle, period."

- Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-At-Large, CarBuzz

The Bentley Continental GT Speed is one of the most refined monsters ever produced. Gone is the much-loved W12, but in its place comes a hybrid V8 engine that delivers 771 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. It's certainly not frugal, but you can achieve 30 miles on a single charge in electric-only mode, and with the huge 21-gallon fuel tank, you can expect to tour in comfort up to 500 miles away from home. It's no one-trick pony with all the luxury you'd expect and a top speed of 208 miles oper hour.

It's hard to call this the 'baby' Aston Martin when the Vantage's 4.0L twin-turbo V8 derived from AMG makes a healthy 656 horsepower through just the rear wheels. Think of it as the little child of the family alongside the grown-up Vanquish and DB12. The short wheelbase makes it more playful, and it can get up to 60 miles per hour in only 3.5 seconds. Of course, the V8 is an addition to the luxury inside, which consists of lovely buttons, a trunk big enough for a golf bag, and embroidered headrests.

The Bentley Continental GT may not have 'Speed' in the name, but don't think for a moment it's a slouch. The quintessential British grand tourer has 670 horsepower thanks to a hybrid V8 engine, which gives it a 3.5-second 0–60 mile per hour time. Of course, you can customize the Bentley to your heart's desire, with lots of color and material options, but the V8 is what gives you that effortless performance. Even when the battery is discharged, you still get a mighty 19 mpg, which is better than you'd expect.

"The E-Ray is not the Corvette our heart would tell us to drive on a last-minute trip on our favorite road, but it is the one our brain would tell us to use on a commute that also includes some fun stretches."

- Jared Rosenholtz, Editor-At-Large, CarBuzz

Supercars are great, but they also need to work well in a range of conditions, not just on the track. Out of the coupes with V8 engines, the E-Ray Corvette is one of the best choices for those who want a car that can just do everything well. The electric motor powers the front wheels to provide extra grip and increases power to 655 ponies. There's very little electric range, but the Corvette is a bit less antisocial in E-Ray form, offering drivers to get out of their neighborhood without waking up the street.

Opulence oozes out of the DB12, which now uses a V8 instead of a thundering V12 engine. Still, this twin-turbo V8 only runs out of steam at 202 miles per hour thanks to 671 British horses. Aston calls this a 'super tourer,' which is meant to mix athleticism with luxury, and thanks to torque-vectoring and Bilstein adaptive dampers, it floats over bumps while offering stability in corners. The V8's torque band runs from 2,750 rpm to a mighty 6,000 rpm, meaning you're never short on power.

Ford's famous pony car has stayed true to its roots. Both the GT & Dark Horse models of the Mustang come with a V8 engine, making either 480 horsepower or a round 500. They can both be optioned with a Tremec six-speed manual. The Dark Horse can even be chosen with a drift brake, which will lock the rear wheels in certain modes to make sliding easier. This is one of the last manual V8s, and we're so glad it exists.
