How to Acquire Dethrone
Dethrone can be cast by using the following Items:
- Scroll of Dethrone in Karsus section of the Sorcerous Vault.
- There are two of these Scrolls. One is sitting beside the Annals of Karsus, and one will be granted to the character who reads said Annals. Thus, two Wizards in your party can potentially learn the spell.
Dethrone Tips & Notes
- Dethrone can only be learned by a Wizard using the scroll.
- Unlike most spells, Dethrone can only be cast once per long rest, even if you have available spell slots.
- The spell uses a fixed Difficulty Class score of 18, and this value cannot be changed through any different allocations of Ability scores and/or by increasing the caster's DC score with items, weapons, or apparel.
- Provided that the character has the potential to cast Spells of the Fifth Level, ANY variation of Ability distribution can use this Spell optimally.
AnonymousDespite it being one of the unique endgame necromancy spells for Wizard it feels lackluster. As it's essentially a worse Disintegrate that instead deals Necrotic damage which is worse than Force, deals less of it and instead focuses on Constitution.

AnonymousLore: was designed to kill a god
gameplay: won't even kill an ordinary myrmidon.
AnonymousKind of a rad spell and fun to give to Gale, but I don't think it's that great. You don't get it until Act 3 and by then many of the big single targets you'd want to use it on (remember: once per long rest) are immune or resistant to Necrotic damage or will just make the CON save for half damage.

AnonymousFeels like something Gale should be casting on himself, the way the spell is described, fits his dark weave story he recounts.

AnonymousAs with this and "Artistry of War" make sure you learn this from the scroll on your wizard(s) instead of using them item

The main appeal of this is it's frightening THIRTY metre range. It has a lot of worth for a certain fight that may or may not happen 'in a bank', for instance.
