Shotgun Rank is the elusive final rank you can reach in Black Ops 2 Zombies, but reaching it isn't tied to your k/d ratio (kills-to-deaths). In fact, your Black Ops 2 Zombies rank is dependent on your r/d ratio (rounds-to-downs). Below, we'll share the data-mined findings and the strategy you'll want to follow if you want to reach Shotgun Rank in BO2 Zombies.

How Does the Zombies Rank System Work in Black Ops 2 Zombies?
Your Rank in BO2 Zombies depends on your Rounds-to-Downs ratio. This means that the higher Round you reach without going down, the higher your Rank will be. Time played also has a slight role to play, but you'll naturally reach this simply by playing. Here are the stat requirements for each rank, as found by Dobby:

In order to get the max rank (Shotgun Rank), you essentially need to reach high Rounds without going down. Therefore, if you are trying to reach Shotgun Rank, it's best not to play in co-op, and you shouldn't buy Quick Revive. It's also worth noting that leaving the game will count as a down.
You will earn more "Rank Points" the higher Round you reach, but progress is subtracted based on how early you died. If you die on Round 1-5, you're going to lose the largest amount of Rank Points, but if you die over Round 40, your Rank Point loss is minimized.
The Tally Marks and Blue Eyes are not related to Rounds, Downs, or Kills. Instead, they're based on how many days you've played in a row. Therefore, if you want the Shotgun Rank with blue eyes, you need to play for five days in a row.
How to Easily Get the Shotgun Rank in Black Ops 2 Zombies
Based on the code found by Dobby, there's now a safe way to get Shotgun Ranks. Don't worry about a k/d ratio, just focus on surviving to high Rounds without dying. This can be done in any map you feel the most comfortable surviving, but Buried is definitely the easiest.
For the best method to level up to Shotgun Rank, you should reach Round 40 without going down. Once you reach Round 40, end the game and then repeat the process, and you will eventually have Shotgun Rank to brag to your friends about your level!
