The M8A1 is a 4-round burst Assault Rifle, but don't be fooled by the fact it's not fully automatic, as this weapon can absolutely shred through enemies at medium-ranges and long-ranges, and if you're brave enough to be direct with enemies, it might even serve you well in close-range.

This class setup is what I'm personally using and consider to be a top contender for staying alive and chaining kills. However, it's complemented by long-range and medium-range gunfights, and is reserved for a play style that prefers to stay alive and aware of surroundings, rather than pure gung-ho.
Best M8A1 Attachments
- Reflex Sight
- Adjustable Stock
- Quickdraw Handle
I'm using the Primary Gunfighter Wildcard so I can use three attachments on the M8A1. These three attachments are extremely useful and benefit the gun greatly for a multitude of reasons:
The Reflex Sight is really useful for the M8A1, as the default iron sights are not useful for aiming due to the reticle. With Reflex Sight, you have a precision red dot sight that will aid your range and accuracy, which really helps to eliminate opponents from afar.
Quickdraw Handle is also extremely useful thanks to its ability to give you faster aiming. Faster aiming means less time scrambling to pull your gun up and shoot an enemy who's already lining up their killshot on you, and the more ADS (aim down sights) you have, the better.
Lastly, there's the Adjustable Stock. This lets you move faster when aiming, and while most players might opt to stand still and focus their shots, Stock will ensure that you have strafing movement so enemies miss their target, and you can hit every shot, which, for the M8A1, is just one quick burst.
You can opt out of Primary Gunfighter if you want the extra loadout slot, but I personally think these three attachments make the M8A1 the best it can be.
Best M8A1 Perks
- Perk 1: Ghost
- Perk 2: Toughness
- Perk 3: Dexterity
The reason I went with Ghost in the Perk 1 slot is because the M8A1 feels a little more safe than other close-range weapons, so keeping your distance means peeking through windows and cover, so being undetectable from UAVs (and while planting or defusing bombs in objective modes) is really going to help keep you alive and unmarked.
Toughness is always my choice for Perk 2 because it will reduce the flinch when you're shot. Flinch can impact your aim, so reducing it so you can get the killshot before your opponent will be very useful, especially at those longer distances.
My Perk 3 slot was reserved for Dexterity because I like being able to ADS faster after sprinting. I intend to move around a lot with the M8A1, and since it's useless with hipfire, aiming is essential, so why not aim faster and draw your gun quicker than your enemy?
You could run perks like Flak Jacket and Tactical Mask, but with distance on your side, lethal and tactical equipment shouldn't be much of a threat to you.
Best M8A1 Secondary Weapon & Attachments
- Secondary: Executioner
- Attachments: Long Barrel
I opted for the Executioner as my secondary, simply because it has immense stopping power at close range. I don't need something to cover the medium and long ranges, I just need a backup weapon if an enemy gets too close, and I need something to put them down with, so why not a handheld shotgun? Long Barrel also helps to provide an extra bit of range.
Best M8A1 Scorestreaks
- UAV (425 Score)
- Counter-UAV (600 Score)
- Orbital VSAT (1,200 Score)
The UAV is a classic, and while rocket launcher users can shoot them down, I usually get enough use out of one to either pinpoint the location of an alluding enemy, or gain assist points from my team that's also benefiting from the UAV.
The Counter-UAV will always be my go-to scorestreak because I like shutting down sights for the enemy team. Disabling their minimap, no matter how temporary, blinds them and gives me an advantage to shoot my weapon without them being able to pinpoint the bullets on the minimap.
My final scorestreak is the Orbital VSAT, purely because it provides a position and direction of the enemy team that they cannot escape from or destroy, which also builds my score up even more thanks to assists from teammates.
I picked these scorestreaks because I like to know where opponents are, and I don't like it when they know where I am, so this helps to control the game so I always know what's going on, and it helps my team (which in turn builds assist points).
