World Cup 2026 takes place across the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19 this summer and, for the first time, FIFA's flagship international tournament will feature a record 48 teams, spanning six confederations.
Each nation brings a roster of 26 players to the competition, with the best players on the planet converging upon North America (though there will be a few notable absentees) in order to battle it out for the ultimate prize in soccer.
The final deadline for national teams to submit their player lists for World Cup 2026 is June 2. In the event that a player named in the roster sustains an injury, becomes ill or otherwise unable to play, associations can call up a replacement, provided they were named on the provisional panel, up to 24 hours before their team's first game.

Thomas Tuchel confirmed the England World Cup 2026 squad on May 22. The Three Lions will look to figures such as Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka for inspiration as they aim to win their first World Cup in 60 years. Such is the depth of England's playing pool that Tuchel has the luxury of not including world-class stars such as Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
There was, perhaps understandably, discontent among those who were not included by Tuchel, with Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, who featured at the two previous World Cups, taking to social media to say that he was "shocked and gutted" not to make the cut.
