33 Favourites to Win 2026/27 Premier League POTY Have Emerged - Man Utd Ace 3rd

The early odds for the 2026/27 Premier League Player of the Year Award have already emerged, with barely any time for the dust to settle on Bruno Fernandes' victory on Tuesday night.

After breaking the competition's assist record last season with 21, the Manchester United captain pipped the likes of Declan Rice and Erling Haaland to the prestigious mantle. He is the first player from the Red Devils to win it since Wayne Rooney in 2010.

But with Betfair's latest odds for this season's contenders now emerging, Fernandes isn't currently expected to retain his crown, with a few surprise names cropping up early on.

With odds of just 60/1 and 50/1, and therefore highly unlikely to make a serious push for the award, Chelsea duo Estevao and veteran new signing Danny Welbeck sit among the outsiders. Welbeck was brought in by Xabi Alonso to try and raise the Blues' average squad age, with the west Londoners boasting the youngest team in the Premier League this season.

Also in this odds range are Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who will both be looking to make the most of the aforementioned Fernandes' supreme chance creation. However, their performances in an opening-weekend defeat to newly promoted Hull City suggest there are still plenty of cracks for Michael Carrick to fill before Man Utd can safely claim to be 'back'.

David Raya is perhaps a little unfortunate to be so low given that he's won the Golden Glove in three of the last four campaigns. Jeremy Doku and Cody Gakpo's slightly shorter odds, however, go to show just how heavily attacking players are favoured for this award. The latter is currently the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham, who have already spent big on a squad rebuild under Roberto de Zerbi this summer, with Sandro Tonali being their greatest acquisition.

Viktor Gyokeres, Enzo Fernandez, and Youri Tielemans all share odds of 33/1, but all three had opening weekends to forget. While the first and second were benched as the latter was booed by Fulham fans for his involvement in Argentina's World Cup campaign, the third was brutally slammed by his new supporters as he struggled to look the part in midfield for United after his move from Aston Villa.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk - one of the best defenders in football history - comes in as 19th favourite, while teammate Florian Wirtz is 18th as many expect him to look more comfortable under a new manager this season. Gabriel Magalhaes is another who will surely exceed the bookies' expectations after his set-piece prowess played such a huge role in the Gunners' first league title in 22 years last time out.

The Brazilian defender has been given odds of 22/1, which leaves him just behind the in-form Martin Odegaard (20/1), as well as Chelsea's £116m signing Morgan Rogers (also 20/1) and another Arsenal player in Christos Tzolis (18/1). Elliot Anderson also features in this section after Manchester City paid a club-record fee for him, while Phil Foden will be expected to kick on after a lethargic attempt at filling Kevin De Bruyne's void last term.

It took Joao Pedro 31 seconds to score his first league goal of the season, but it's not quite enough to see him break into the top 10 favourites like Alexander Isak - who had a very different performance this weekend - Dominik Szoboszlai, whose last-minute penalty at Newcastle spared the rest of his team a lot of blushes.

Antoine Semenyo and Bruno Guimaraes, both on 14/1, will be looking to take their performances to a whole new level as they start their first full seasons with Arsenal and Man City. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka is the sixth favourite, as Rayan Cherki is deservedly among the top five after following up his debut campaign of 12 assists last term by already registering two as the Cityzens came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1.

Declan Rice, one of the best midfielders in the world, is the reigning champions' highest-rated player on the odds list with 15/2. Fernandes is third, while Cole Palmer is second to the inevitable Erling Haaland - who AI believe could reach 35 league goals this season, despite not finding the target in the opening fixture for the first time in City colours this weekend.
