Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, Avatar fans looked forward in harmony to the under-development fighting game based on the four nations of the series. Then, everything changed when Maximum Entertainment cancelled the title. Only Gameplay Group International, a dev team of experienced fighting game creators and long-time Avatar fans could resurrect the project. Two years passed. and before we knew it, the long-sought after title was finally in our hands. A lot of people were wary of the game being trusted with an upstart indie studio, but I never lost hope. I believe this game will please Avatar fans across the world. Why am I so confident in this game’s quality? Let’s talk about the plot of this game’s story mode.

For those interested in Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, we wanted to clarify what’s happening with the launch, which has been a bit confusing.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will be adding Tagah as free DLC, it’s been announced. The character will be available later this year.
Tagah comes from Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. For those that are unaware, he’s a new character introduced in the new film. Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender actually makes its official debut this Saturday (or tomorrow if you’re at Comic Con).

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game isn’t too far away now, and the full roster has now been confirmed.
The lineup of characters has gradually been revealed over the past few months. We now have a look at the character select screen, which shows twelve reps for the game.

PM Studios intends to ship physical versions of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, it’s been revealed.
A standard version and Deluxe Edition will be sold. You’ll get the Year 1 Pass DLC, digital soundtrack, and digital art book with the latter. Note that on Nintendo Switch 2, you don’t have to be concerned about it being a game-key card – this is the full thing on the cartridge.

At EVO 2026 today, the Year 1 DLC characters for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game were revealed.
Iroh will kick off the game’s Year 1 Pass. Following that, we’ll see Ty Lee, Lin Beifong, and Bolin. The first two are from Avatar: The Last Airbender with the other two coming from The Legend of Korra.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has been delayed, though thankfully it’ll only be a few extra weeks.
Last we heard, the title was planned for July 2, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. Now, however, the release date has moved to July 23, 2026.
In a statement, the team said the delay is happening to ensure “the best possible experience at launch”. This includes “brand new content previously unplanned”.

Gameplay Group provided an update on Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game today, revealing the game’s release date. It’ll be out for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch on July 2, 2026. The Nintendo Switch version had not been previously announced.
