Game development is rarely a straightforward path. Ideas evolve, mechanics change, and sometimes a project simply doesn’t become what its creators envisioned. For most studios – especially independent ones – the thought of scrapping years of work and starting over is almost unthinkable. It costs time, money, and momentum. Yet that’s exactly the path the developers of Montabi chose, deciding to rebuild the game from the ground up rather than settle for something they weren’t satisfied with. That immediately made me curious.

The Immortal John Triptych sets Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch release date, new trailer

After it was announced earlier this year, The Immortal John Triptych now has its release date. This one will launch on August 27, 2026.
As a reminder, the package combines the works of Four Last Things, The Procession to Calvary, and Death of the Reprobate. Also included are never-before-seen bonus features, deleted scenes, and timelapses where Joe pieces together history.

Publisher Akupara Games and developer Moonlight Kids have announced that Echo Weaver is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The metroidvania will launch for the console on October 8.
The game is described as a “metroidBRAINia,” where time is your currency and secrets are your only upgrades. Players take on the role of the last Weaver, the remnant of a ruined society trapped in a fatal time loop. As they explore the world, they’ll uncover the story of the fallen civilization as well as their own.

Akupara Games and developer Mankibo have announced that Montabi will launch for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on August 6.
Montabi is a creature-collector roguelike deckbuilder in which players build decks, recruit and train unique creatures, and battle to save the city in tactical turn-based combat.

Akupara Games, in conjunction with Joe Richardson Games, today announced The Immortal John Triptych. It’s coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch later in 2026.
The Immortal John Triptych is anthology bringing Four Last Things, The Procession to Calvary, and Death of the Reprobate together into one unified package. Fans can look forward to never-before-seen bonus features, deleted scenes, and a a quality-of-life facelift.

Cabernet receiving physical release on Nintendo Switch

Cabernet is getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch, Akupara Games and Party for Introverts announced today. It’ll start to ship in Q3 2026.
Cabernet will have a standard version, which includes a copy of the game and a portrait book. There’ll also be a collector’s edition which has these same items plus a brooch replica, the original soundtrack, art book, vampire cat pin, and a special box.

Gigasword coming to Nintendo Switch

Publisher Akupara Games, along with solo dev Jack Breen of Studio Hybrid, today revealed that Gigasword will be appearing on Nintendo Switch. It’s due out on November 13, 2025.
Gigasword is an action puzzle Metroidvania game, which has Ezra fighting to reach the top of the Nestrium and recover the God Crystal within. The game has various puzzles, covert chambers to discover, enemies to fight, and more.
