The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered review

System: Switch 2
Release date: August 11, 2026
Developer: Bethesda / Virtuos
Publisher: Bethesda

Back in the year 2006, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion released. Without a gaming PC to my name at the time, I ended up picking up the game on the Xbox 360. After spending actual in-life years playing both Daggerfall and Morrowind, it felt a little strange playing an Elder Scrolls title on a console, but finding this same experience on a Nintendo console all these years later is, if not just as jarring, at least a little magical.

For years, Final Fantasy 14 has earned a reputation as one of the best MMORPGs ever made. While it’s now available across even more platforms, one audience has been left with hard choices: players who want a truly portable experience without compromising performance or controls. After spending time imagining what the game could be like on Nintendo Switch 2 and seeing what the new hardware is capable of, it’s difficult not to think that the console is a perfect fit.

Montabi review

System: Switch 2 / Switch (reviewed)
Release date: August 6, 2026
Developer: Mankibo
Publisher: Akupara Games

Game development is rarely a straightforward path. Ideas evolve, mechanics change, and sometimes a project simply doesn’t become what its creators envisioned. For most studios – especially independent ones – the thought of scrapping years of work and starting over is almost unthinkable. It costs time, money, and momentum. Yet that’s exactly the path the developers of Montabi chose, deciding to rebuild the game from the ground up rather than settle for something they weren’t satisfied with. That immediately made me curious.

Twenty-five years later, Final Fantasy 10 remains one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Its unforgettable cast, emotional story, and groundbreaking turn-based combat have earned it a place among the genre’s all-time classics. Seeing it arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 should have been an easy and earnest recommendation – it’s one of my favorite games of all time, after all. The world of Spira is a phenomenal, well-written setting and it looks better than ever before. Instead, the biggest talking point isn’t Tidus, Yuna, or the world of Spira – it’s whether existing fans should really be expected to pay full price all over again. Right here and now, what I can say is this: The biggest improvement in the Nintendo Switch 2 version isn’t prettier visuals – it’s respect for the player’s time.

Disgaea Mayhem review

System: Switch 2 (reviewed), Switch
Release date: July 23, 2026
Developer:Nippon Ichi Software
Publisher: NIS America

For more than two decades, the Disgaea series has carved out its own corner of the strategy RPG genre. Rather than chasing gritty fantasy or grounded warfare, the franchise has built its reputation on over-the-top humor, lovable and sometimes adorable demons, sarcastically large damage numbers, and a level of mechanical depth that encourages players to break the game’s systems in the most entertaining ways possible. Traditionally, Disgaea titles are turn-based tactical RPGs, challenging players to outthink opponents on grid-based battlefields through careful positioning, clever abilities, and layered strategic planning. Disgaea Mayhem, however, takes an action RPG route. While the gameplay has changed dramatically, the series’ unmistakable identity remains intact, delivering the same silly humor, over-the-top personality, and delightfully ridiculous numbers that longtime fans have come to expect.

Digimon Story Time Stranger review

System: Switch 2 (reviewed), Switch
Release date: July 10, 2026
Developer: Media.Vision
Publisher: Bandai Namco

When the original Digimon Story arrived on Nintendo DS nearly two decades ago, it carved out a niche of its own. Rather than focusing solely on raising a single partner like the Digimon World series, it embraced party-building, RPG mechanics, and sprawling adventures through both the Digital World, and reality. Over the years, the series evolved through titles like Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s Memory, each expanding the roster, refining battle mechanics, and telling increasingly ambitious stories. Digimon Story: Time Stranger feels like the culmination of everything those games have been building toward.

Moonlight Peaks romanceable characters

Moonlight Peaks just came to Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, and for those starting the life sim, we have a complete list of romanceable characters plus details about each one.

There are about two dozen romanceable NPCs to meet. Every romance option is available regardless of your character’s appearance or gender. Also, you can date multiple characters before deciding who you’d like to marry. Notably, children are not a feature currently in this story, but you can date multiple people before deciding who you wish to settle down with.

Life sims often begin with a familiar premise: leave your old life behind, inherit a neglected farm, and build something new. Moonlight Peaks follows that tradition, but gives it a delightfully gothic twist. Rather than arriving as an ordinary newcomer, you step into the role of Dracula’s son or daughter, bearing the family name as you leave the comfort of your ancestral home in search of independence. Your destination is the secluded town of Moonlight Peaks, where an overgrown family farm awaits its newest caretaker.

Very few platformers have a reputation that can compare to Nintendo’s own Mario collection of games, but Ubisoft’s Rayman series has consistently delivered across consoles and time. After spending some hands-on time with Rayman Legends Retold, it’s incredibly easy to see why the choice was made to revive this classic with a new, more cinematic approach.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth picks up immediately in tandem and after the events of Remake’s Intergrade DLC, sending Cloud and his companions out into the wider world beyond Midgar. As the group journeys across the planet, players will revisit iconic locations from the original adventure, including Kalm, Junon, Costa del Sol, Mt. Corel, Gongaga, Cosmo Canyon, and Nibelheim. But as Sephiroth’s influence continues to spread, a dark and looming question hangs over every step of the adventure: can this band of heroes truly prevent catastrophe, or are they merely pieces in Sephiroth’s larger game?
