Crater of Lost Souls is a Priority Quest in Diablo 4. Crater of Lost Souls can be found at Upper Kurast, Nahantu and upon completion, unlocks The Dark Citadel. Priority Quests are important side content missions that unlock specific content, such as item upgrading, potion upgrading or event Class Mechanics for each of the five available Classes.

Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred Crater of Lost Souls Walkthrough
Head to the marked area in the map, and hear Priestess Cualli. Talk to hear to learn that the Khazra are leaving The Dark Citadel and kidnapping the people from Kurast.
Check the marker on your map, and head to the Warriors' camp.
Once there, deal with the enemies and investigate the camp.
A new marker will appear, head there, and you will find a dying warrior, talk to him. He will tell you the Kazhra decimated their forces. Continue following the markers on your map.
You will find a group of monsters blocking the entrance of the Ancient Nexus. Defeat them and enter it.
You will find Zyanya there, talk to her to begin the Ancient Nexus.
Duck to pass the stones just behind Zyanya, and enter the dungeon. You will have to activate the Soul Siphon and charge it by standing near it. You will see a circular area marked around it, stay within it.
After you manage to do it, 2 Barrier Guardians will be created at each side, defeat them, and the Failed Ascendant will be summoned. Slay it too.
Unlock the way point to conquer the area.
Talk to Zyanya to complete the quest and receive your rewards, and unlock The Dark Citadel
