Janine Flaccavento shared thisLeaving Cannes, I’m thinking a lot about the Retail Media industry and the conversations that I had this week with many of you. Retailers want more autonomy (and growth), brands want more control (and growth) and agencies want more simplicity (and growth). Criteo is the answer. I’m 2 months into this new role over the Americas and in speaking with all of our clients and partners this week, it’s clear that Criteo is still seen as what we once were, vs what we are now: a leader in commerce. In the last couple of months we’ve launched CMAX Expansion to give retailers and brands the control, visibility and choice to be able to buy Retail Media how they would like. We’ve launched Page Intelligence to provide Retailers with flexibility across organic and paid. We’ve exceeded 2000 brands live on Open AI with sponsored ads. And we’re now in market with Go Enterprise to help agencies, brands and retailers work seamlessly across offsite publishers, allowing retailers to be more strategic across enterprise and vendor-funded media. This is a new era for Criteo and it’s one of flexibility, balancing the needs of retailers, brands and agencies, and most importantly, it’s an era of growth. And I’m so thrilled to be a part of it.

Janine Flaccavento shared thisMe and my Criteo kicks have made it to Cannes and ready for an amazing week ahead. Here are a few of the events that I'm most looking forward to (that still have spots available). Looking forward to seeing you on the Criteo Yacht!

Janine Flaccavento shared thisAnother great beauty event in NYC! This is turning into my fav destination to meet with some of the best brands and retailers in the industry. This week Criteo was lucky enough to be a sponsor of the CEW Newsmaker event featuring a powerhouse of women leaders from Macy's. The takeaway from Nata Dvir: Macy's is winning by building human connections with their shoppers. They are also redefining value for the beauty shopper. It's not about the lowest price, it's about the experience they can build with their customers. Thank you to Lucy Kriz, (board member and powerhouse in her own right) for the invite and for being such great company.

Janine Flaccavento shared thisGreat clients, and even better conversations! Thanks to all our brand and agency partners who joined us at our Beauty & Style Edit event last week in NYC. We heard directly from our retail partners at Macy's Media Network and JCPenney as they shared how they are approaching retail media within their organizations, recent developments, and where they are focusing to better meet advertiser needs (shoutouts to Alexander Winters and Adam Kron for the insights and partnership). Then, product lead Talia Comorau shared how AI is changing the shopper journey, and what this means for our retail media product roadmap. It was a great opportunity to dive deep into these fast-moving categories, and showcase the vertical expertise we have at Criteo. Want an invite to the next one? Just reach out to me!

Janine Flaccavento liked thisJanine Flaccavento liked thisPeople are EVERYTHING. Those you work with day in and day out will make or break the fulfillment you get from your career. The longer I’m a leader, the more I’m absolutely certain; it’s all about the people. I do my best work when I’m surrounded by smart, kind, driven people who challenge each other, support each other and genuinely enjoy being together. Once you get the right mix of people around the table, the energy, collaboration, and passion for great work becomes contagious. But it starts at the top. The saying is old, but it’s true. Leaders set the tone. How we show up consistently. How we treat people in good times and bad. Whether we create an environment where people want to raise their hand, speak up, push each other and win together. The Barrows Connected Store team may be spread across the globe, but we are incredibly intentional about getting together. We stay focused on our North Star. Work through hurdles. Challenge our thinking. Get aligned. And just as importantly… we sit around a table, share a meal, laugh a lot, take the pictures and make the memories. Because those moments matter and lead to great success across the board. The people make it all possible. I hit my 3-month mark at BCS just a couple of weeks ago. I continue to be amazed at what this team accomplishes in such short periods of time. Our leaders and team members are incredible PEOPLE. Janine Flaccavento reacted on thisJanine Flaccavento reacted on thisMore changes to the plan… After six rounds of chemotherapy from November 25 through March 26, I had no visible signs of cancer, my hair was starting to grow back, and I was ready to get back to the plan of moving to Poland. I celebrated in July with a wonderful few weeks of travel with family and friends, from Creede, CO and Chicago to a road trip with Greg through several beautiful Western National Parks. Then, very unexpectedly, I landed in the ER with neurological symptoms. Tests revealed that my lymphoma had returned, this time in my brain. This recurrence is very serious, but I’m choosing to approach it with a glass-half-full mindset and as another battle I intend to win. I’m now receiving excellent care from Kaiser in Denver and have completed two of five planned rounds of inpatient chemotherapy. An MRI next week will help determine how well the treatment is working and what comes next. For now, we’ve put all our fall & winter travel plans on hold, and I’m winding down my current consulting projects so I can prioritize my health. I’m already looking forward to getting back out there in Spring 2027. For friends and colleagues who would like to follow my journey, I’m sharing updates on CaringBridge. Please message me if you’d like the link. I remain determined to #FightCancerWithJoy. See you in the spring - and yes this is just a mocktail....

Janine Flaccavento liked thisJanine Flaccavento liked thisSince announcing Criteo as the first advertising technology partner for ChatGPT Ads earlier this year, we've seen tremendous interest from brands exploring the role conversational AI can play in how people find and evaluate products. We’re now expanding our integration with ChatGPT Ads through Criteo across 31 European markets. More than 2,000 brands are already advertising on ChatGPT through our platform, reflecting strong momentum. Early results show that conversion rates are already outperforming other referral channels, click-through rates are 2-3x higher than comparable formats in other environments, and more than 80% of ad-driven traffic comes from customers who are new to a brand. These signals reinforce what we're seeing across the industry: conversational AI is becoming an increasingly important part of how consumers discover products, creating new opportunities for brands to engage at moments of genuine intent. I'm excited to continue deepening our partnership with ChatGPT and helping clients around the world navigate this new discovery opportunity. https://utm.io/usoTU

Janine Flaccavento reacted on thisJanine Flaccavento reacted on thisLike 600 other people, I attended the Merkle reunion this weekend—a remarkable mix of current employees and people who have moved on over the years. But “reunion” doesn’t quite capture what the event meant to me. In one sense, it provided a feeling of closure to an amazing chapter in my career. In another, it was a powerful manifestation of the critical business lesson David Williams reminded us of at every opportunity—and demonstrated through his every action: Culture is the only true source of long-term competitive advantage. A strong culture shapes how we think, how we behave, and how we treat one another. It influences how we are viewed by our clients, partners, and communities. Ultimately, it defines both the company we build and the brand we leave behind. Now, as the founder and CEO of my own business, I understand more than ever that culture doesn’t happen by accident. It takes intention, focus, and hard work. Perhaps the most extraordinary part of the weekend was seeing David’s legacy reflected in what so many current and former Merkle colleagues have gone on to build— expanded roles, new businesses, new careers, new partnerships, and new collaborations among longtime friends and coworkers. It was wonderful to reconnect with so many people—far too many to name—who had such a profound impact on my development as both a business leader and a person. What an incredible legacy.

Janine Flaccavento reacted on thisJanine Flaccavento reacted on thisSometimes you’re lucky enough to catch lightning in a bottle. That’s what my time at Merkle felt like. Today, David Williams brought nearly 600 former Merkle-ites back together—and seeing so many familiar faces was a powerful reminder that what we had was truly special. The people. The energy. The culture. The Merkle magic. So grateful to have been a part of it—and even more grateful to reconnect with so many people who made that chapter unforgettable.

Rapid Conjoint is the gold standard for improving your RGM flywheel. The more I study Canadian grocery—and what leading global CPG companies are doing—the clearer the opportunity becomes. We shouldn’t ask: “Who is the Walmart shopper?” Ask: “Who is the shopper TODAY, and what is their mission?” The same Canadian shopper could be: 🛒 Costco Saturday: bulk + value 💰 Walmart Sunday: price + family stock-up 🥩 Metro/Sobeys Tuesday: fresh + dinner tonight 🥛 Shoppers/Rexall Thursday: emergency fill-in 🌏 Asian grocer Friday: authentic food + discovery Same shopper. Different mission. Different willingness to pay. The major missions include weekly stock-up, value, fresh, fill-in, meal tonight, bulk, deals, convenience, cultural cuisine and discovery. Now overlay shopper cohorts: budget maximizers, families, affluent value seekers, convenience shoppers, quality seekers, loyalty optimizers, multicultural households, food explorers and wellness shoppers. This is where the RGM flywheel becomes powerful: 🔵 RAPID CONJOINT — PREDICT What happens if we change price, pack, promotion or assortment—by retailer, mission and cohort? 🟠 IN-STORE AUDIT — OBSERVE What is actually on shelf? Price, promotion, assortment, display, OOS, competitors and compliance. 🟢 POS + LOYALTY — MEASURE What did shoppers actually buy? 🔄 LEARN — AND RUN IT AGAIN Rapid Conjoint → Execute → Audit → POS/Loyalty → Learn → Rapid Conjoint And look at the direction of the world’s biggest CPG companies. Coca-Cola is connecting Marketing + Innovation + RGM + Execution. PepsiCo is exploring WTP, PPA, pricing, promotions and rapid simulation. Nestlé is applying AI and analytics to in-store execution and promotional spend. Kraft Heinz focuses RGM on pricing, PPA, mix and promotion optimization. P&G connects product, packaging, communication and retail execution. Danone’s PRGM model connects price, assortment, promotion, mix and trade terms. They’re assembling the pieces. The next opportunity is closing the loop. Don’t just tell RGM what happened last quarter. Predict what happens next. Verify what happened in-store. Measure what shoppers bought. Learn. Repeat. 🔄 That’s the RGM flywheel. #RGM #RapidConjoint #ShopperInsights #RetailExecution #Pricing #CPG #FMCG
