A new Fallout 76 event is officially live, offering players a chance to grab various in-game rewards until June 15. The newly introduced promotion is part of a wider-reaching initiative aiming to highlight some recent content additions to Fallout 76.
The long-running live-service RPG launched its 25th season, Appalachia Under Siege, on June 2. The headline addition in the latest Fallout 76 update is the Infestations system, which introduces a new type of recurring activity that randomly leaves some locations overrun by individual enemy factions. Bethesda has framed Infestations as more than a content addition, presenting them as a potential blueprint for catering to groups while simultaneously keeping both solo and team-based exploration as fresh as possible, even for players who had already spent thousands of hours exploring every nook and cranny of post-apocalyptic Appalachia.

Fallout 76 P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Protocol Community Challenge Debuts Alongside New Free Rewards
That focus on turning familiar parts of Appalachia into repeatable flashpoints is also the central premise of P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Protocol, a new in-game event and community challenge Bethesda launched on June 7. The event is accompanied by a small promotion awarding various digital items in exchange for player engagement. New rewards will be available each day through June 15 and can be claimed via the Fallout 76 Atomic Shop. The first available items are the Abraxo Paint for the T-51 Power Armor and Clean Mr. Fuzzy Headwear. Bethesda has not revealed the rest of the freebies in advance, though all of them have already been datamined.
The main event behind the ongoing offer focuses on showcasing the Fallout 76 Infestation update while emphasizing community participation. Every Infestation cleared during the promotional period contributes to the community challenge's overall progress. Contributors are set to receive the Brotherhood Protector Power Armor if players collectively clear 500,000 Infestations before the June 15 deadline. As is tradition, the daily Atomic Shop rewards are available to everyone, irrespective of whether they are actively participating in the event.
Separately, Bethesda is running another Fallout 1st trial during the same promotional window. Available to claim in the Atomic Shop, the offer gives players temporary access to select membership benefits, including the unlimited Scrapbox, Aid Box, Survival Tent, and an extra 10% S.C.O.R.E. boost. The Fallout 1st preview is especially relevant because Infestations are built around repeated combat and incessant looting. Inventory management can become cumbersome for players who do not pay for Fallout 1st, forcing them to regularly trim their loot. That made the premium subscription one of the most controversial aspects of Fallout 76, though Bethesda has never buckled to fan pressure to remove it, having only alleviated the complaints by raising free storage limits over the years.
The ongoing community challenge will run alongside a Scrip Surplus and Double Mutations event scheduled to begin next Thursday, June 11. Double Meat Week is then scheduled to return on June 23, while July will focus on Bratsnacht, a new summer spin on the Fasnacht activity. Season 25 is planned to run until early September 2026. It may be followed by a mini-season, a format Bethesda began introducing in spring 2025 as part of an effort to gradually move the game away from its three-month seasonal model. For now, however, Bethesda is still running regular seasons in parallel with intermittent mini-seasons, the next of which, Summer Sock Hop, is scheduled to run from July 21 through August 4.
