Developer id Software unveiled DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations, a major expansion to the 2025 first-person shooter. DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations launches in the early summer and will tell a brutal new chapter of the Doom Slayer's story.
The reveal of DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations came months after game director Hugo Martin teased DOOM fans by stating in a February video update that an expansion was in development. Martin stated that the upcoming expansion was "huge" and "basically like a sequel" to the base game. Given that DOOM: The Dark Ages focused more on grounded combat compared to the rush of DOOM Eternal, the Revelations expansion will add some more mobility to the Doom Slayer's kit. Thankfully, DOOM fans do not have long to wait to experience The Dark Ages' next chapter.

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations Goes Live July 7
Amid all the game reveals during the Xbox Games Showcase, id Software shared glimpses of what DOOM fans can expect in the upcoming expansion. DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations launches Tuesday, July 7, on all platforms that the base game is currently on. A new trailer revealed that Revelations will take place inside a purgatory within the mind of the Doom Slayer. With some of his arsenal broken and damaged, the Doom Slayer joins forces with a mysterious ally to brave the dangers within this dangerous prison.
According to id Software, the Doom Slayer must fight "an abomination of the gods" to set his followers on the right path. DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations expansion will include a new weapon called the Chain Spear, which can be used to parry bullets and strike at close range. The Chain Spear can also be thrown like a javelin, and can be wielded alongside other weapons like the Skullcrusher, Super Shotgun, and Chainshot.
DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations will be available at no additional cost to players who have the Premium Edition or Collectors Bundle of DOOM: The Dark Ages. Users with the base version can access Revelations by either purchasing the expansion for $19.99, or by upgrading to the Premium Edition for $34.99. DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations will launch on the same platforms as the base game. Given that the base edition of DOOM: The Dark Ages is on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, subscribers will need to purchase Revelations separately.

Additionally, DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations will be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, meaning PC and Xbox console players can purchase it once to enjoy the expansion on either platform at no added cost. Along with the expansion, DOOM: The Dark Ages will also launch a major content update for all users. The next Ripatorium update for DOOM: The Dark Ages will be available for free, which will introduce improved customization options for players to utilize. Users with the Revelations DLC will gain access to three new maps and weapons to use in the Ripatoriom after beating the expansion's main story.
