Bethesda has officially confirmed that the Thieves Guild is coming back to Elder Scrolls Online in a big way, with multiple brand-new missions. The Elder Scrolls Online announcement teases everything from pickpocketing and caravan robbery to pirate-like naval thievery.

The MMORPG spin-off of the beloved Bethesda RPG series sets players loose all across the wide world of Tamriel. Elder Scrolls Online includes a plethora of iconic locations from throughout the franchise's rich and storied history, allowing players to visit Skyrim, Summerset, Vvardenfell, and more. The game also includes plenty of staples from the main-series games, with players able to join a Guild, level up Skills, and take on a variety of quests spanning the entire world. Now, one of The Elder Scrolls' most popular Guilds is back in the spotlight for the next major update to the MMORPG.

The Elder Scrolls Online is Adding New Thieves Guild Missions

A trailer from the Xbox Games Showcase is showing off a suite of brand-new Thieves Guild content coming to Elder Scrolls Online. The cinematic trailer hints at a new storyline for the Thieves Guild, adding several new missions centered around the criminal organization. Bethesda teases the ability for members of the Thieves Guild to hold up caravans, set traps to sabotage traveling merchants, and steal their wares. The official announcement teased a plethora of details about what new content will be coming to Elder Scrolls Online. Players will be able to start a new questline surrounding the Thieves Guild following the update, found in the Glenumbra region of Daggerfall. The new pirate-themed content will be available in Elder Scrolls Online as part of an in-game event, likely starting with or shortly after the release of Season One. The reveal even teases players "touring Tamriel with the Prince of Madness," suggesting that Sheogorath may play a major role in the new story content.

The upcoming launch of Season One joins several other big recent changes to Elder Scrolls Online. Bethesda and Microsoft recently partnered to make Elder Scrolls Online available as part of PC Game Pass, with the game also being included as part of Xbox Play Anywhere. Elder Scrolls Online was also featured earlier in 2026 as a free game through PS Plus during March 2026, giving members access to the special Gold Road Edition of the game.

The Elder Scrolls Online's new Thieves Guild content should help to tide over fans who are hungry for Bethesda's upcoming adventure. Bethesda has revealed little information about the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6, with much about the next major entry in the series still a mystery. The release date for the RPG is still believed to be several years away, with recent leaks suggesting that fans could be waiting until 2028 or 2029 to finally play The Elder Scrolls 6. Bethesda's continued support for Elder Scrolls Online will give players plenty to do while they wait for the franchise's next big game.
