The Epic Games Store has formally announced two new freebies for August 6. One of them is the critically acclaimed adventure Beacon Pines, while the other is a returning title that was already offered to Epic Games Store users in 2025.
During the week-long promotion that began July 23, Epic gave away the 2022 story-driven card game Foretales. That offer has now ended, replaced by limited-time 100% discounts on OTXO and Sol Cesto.

A Brief Introduction to Beacon Pines
Beacon Pines is a single-player narrative adventure developed by Chicago-based indie studio Hiding Spot Games and published by Fellow Traveller. Released in September 2022, the game presents its mystery as an illustrated storybook, with players controlling both the reader and the book's central character, Luka. Most of the story unfolds in the titular town of Beacon Pines, where the protagonists investigate a series of increasingly unusual mysteries. In a 2022 interview with GameRant, Hiding Spot described Beacon Pines as a combination of Winnie-the-Pooh and Stranger Things. As of July 2026, the game holds an 81 average score on OpenCritic and "Overwhelmingly Positive" user reviews on Steam.
We Were Here Together Returns as Epic Games Store Freebie
We Were Here Together is a two-player co-op puzzle adventure made by Dutch studio Total Mayhem Games. Originally debuted in October 2019, it is officially the third entry in the We Were Here franchise, although it also functions as a standalone story. Its campaign follows two Antarctic explorers who answer a distress signal before things go wrong. Moment-to-moment gameplay resembles a first-person escape room: players search for symbols, mechanisms, and other clues, then share information over walkie-talkies. Each partner often holds only part of a solution, requiring them to compare findings and coordinate actions in sequence. Although some sections let them explore together, the game repeatedly separates them, making communication the main obstacle to overcome.
We Were Here Together was already free on the Epic Games Store over a 24-hour period ending December 27, 2025. However, the August 2026 promotion will mark the first time the game receives a standard week-long giveaway on the platform. Beacon Pines and We Were Here Together will bring the total value of Epic's August 2026 freebies to $61.96.
