Epic Games Store Users Have Until May 28 To Claim 4 Free Games About Adventuring

The Epic Games Store has officially revealed its free games for May 21. While there are only two of them on paper, the duo includes Aspyr's Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered trilogy, meaning the latest Epic Games Store giveaway technically spans four freebies.

Between May 14 and May 21, Epic Games Store users have been able to claim The Telltale Batman: Shadows Edition and co-op strategy RPG Sunderfolk. While Epic typically announces its weekly freebies in advance, neither title was revealed ahead of time. Instead, both were offered as part of the latest Mystery Games promotion, which returned for the first time since late 2025.

Epic's Mystery Game Giveaway Continues with $50 Worth of Freebies

This giveaway format is now continuing with Down in Bermuda and Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered. Since the latter is a bundle comprising remasters of the first three entries in the Tomb Raider franchise, Epic's latest two mystery games technically span four titles. Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered and Down in Bermuda have a combined value of $49.98, based on their full retail prices. By the same metric, last week's giveaway was worth $79.98. Epic Games Store users have until May 28 at 8 a.m. PDT / 11 a.m. EDT / 5 p.m. CET to add these games to their libraries.

What Kind of Game is Down in Bermuda?

Developed and published by Australian indie studio Yak & Co, Down in Bermuda is a single-player puzzle-adventure game about Milton, an aviator trapped in the Bermuda Triangle who must solve environmental puzzles across a chain of mysterious islands to escape. The game first launched in September 2019 as part of Apple Arcade's opening wave. Yak & Co later brought it to PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox in January 2021.

Unlike Down in Bermuda, the Tomb Raider series needs no introduction, with Lara Croft being one of the most recognizable video game characters of all time. Aspyr's remaster bundle was originally released in February 2024 to largely positive reviews, as underlined by its 75 average score on OpenCritic. Reviewers praised Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered for modernized controls and other quality-of-life improvements, while noting that the included games still suffer from the camera issues that plagued the originals. Much like Down in Bermuda, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered was never before free on the Epic Games Store.

While Down in Bermuda and Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered differ significantly in gameplay, both are broadly linked by a focus on adventure. The same cannot be said of the ongoing Mystery Games promotion, which does not appear to have a unifying theme. Past Epic Games Store giveaways in this format have sometimes been built around a specific concept, such as cats, Halloween, or the holiday season. The current promotion is set to continue for at least one more week, with the Epic Games Store now officially teasing "Mystery Game 5" and "Mystery Game 6" for next week.
